Plants do not need to move from one place to another. Movements in a plant is usually at the cellular level. Thus, a far less amount of energy is required by the plants. Animals, on the other hand, need to move from one place to another in search of food. So, the energy need of animals is much higher than plants.

Plants require less energy as compared to animals as they do not have to move as animals do in search of food and shelter. Plants do not have to take care of their young ones as animals have to. Due to both of these reasons, animals have to spend a lot of energy. In a large plant body, there are many deadcells like sclerenchyma which do not need any energy.
