Explain Why, Plants Have Low Energy Needs as Compared to Animals.

Plants do not need to move from one place to another. Movements in a plant is usually at the cellular level. Thus, a far less amount of energy is required by the plants. Animals, on the other hand, need to move from one place to another in search of food. So, the energy need of animals is much higher than plants.

Plants have low energy needs as compared to animals because

Plants require less energy as compared to animals as they do not have to move as animals do in search of food and shelter. Plants do not have to take care of their young ones as animals have to. Due to both of these reasons, animals have to spend a lot of energy. In a large plant body, there are many deadcells like sclerenchyma which do not need any energy.

Plants have low energy needs as compared to animals. Explain.

Plants remain fixed at a place because they do not need to move In search of food. As a result. plants do not need to have locomotion. the way animals do. Moreover, most of the movements of substances in plants happen through passive transport which does not need energy. Due to this. the energy requirement in plants is low as compared to animals. Reason If enough C O 2 is not available to utilise light energy for carboxylation to proceed, the excess energy may not cause damage to plants. Under the condition of high light intensity and limited CO 2 supply, photorespiration has a useful role in protecting the plants from photooxidative damage.
