About

Radhanath Swami is one of today’s most beloved and respected spiritual teachers. He spent his youth wandering through disparate countries and cultures yearning for an experience of truth; after finally meeting his spiritual teacher in India he has spent the last 50 years internalising that spiritual practice and sharing it with others. He is not only a guide, but a community builder, activist, and a New York Times Best selling author. Rooted in his study of ancient India’s mystic devotional tradition, Radhanath Swami’s message is as profound as it is simple: by cultivating a rich inner life of self-awareness and a genuine practice of service, we can become instruments of compassion and agents of sustainable change in the world. Born into a working-class family in Chicago, Radhanath Swami (born Richard Slavin) became an active participant in the civil rights movement of the late 1960s and early 1970s. He soon discovered, however, that social transformation begins with personal change, and at the age of 19 he embarked on a remarkable quest for meaning in life. This adventure, detailed in his memoir The Journey Home: Autobiography of an American Swami (Mandala Publishing, 2010), took him hitch-hiking across Europe and the Middle East—through Turkey, Iran, Afghanistan, Pakistan, and finally to India. There he lived as a wandering ascetic, first amongst the forest dwelling Himalayan yogis and later amongst a wide variety of gurus and spiritual practitioners throughout India and...

A citation of Guru Nanak : "The drunkenness through But it must be said that this is not the highest divine but an aspect of the Trimurti - divine. There is only Oankar, and it is called the truth, It exists in all creation, and it has no fear, It does not hate, and it is timeless, universal and self-existent ! You will come to know it through the grace of the Guru. Therefore the highest "Guru" or the 'Supreme Being' is unborn and invisible but certainly immanent in all objects. Saint Kabir said "Kabir DHARA agam ki, satguru di lakhay. Tahi ulat sumrin kar, SWAMI sang milay." He said that the stream(dha-ra) of Agama-Loka has to be transformed (to Shabda) before it can unite with the Swami. He speaks here about a still higher plane as mentioned in Kashmir Shaivism and in later Radhasoami (Kabir Panth , Radhasoami and Sant Mat The hinduistic reformation movement "Radhasoami Satsang" (Unification with the master of the soul) was founded 1861 by After Rai Saligram had become his disciple, the teaching changed to the Radhasomai teachings and the belief was renaimed to "Sant Mat" (Teaching of the Holy). The teachings about the "rulers of the inner planes" are very different from teachings of Sikhism and the ADI GRANT, which is now the "guru" in Sikhism ! The worldview of Radhasoami goes up to very much higher Branches...

During his participation in the Civil Rights Movement in the 1960’s to support Martin Luther King Jr., he realized racism could only be solved through spirituality. With that insight, he decided to hitch-hike on an extraordinary journey to India, across Europe and the Middle-East. It’s a rare story which was documented in his best-selling memoir, The Journey Home: Autobiography of an American Swami. Govardhan Ecovillage (GEV), recognised by United Nations World Tourism Organisation, is a spiritual oasis in the heart of Maharashtra, based on the principles of “simple living and higher thinking”, that brings spirituality to life. It’s a community which hosts multiple yoga, self-improvement, health, academic and spiritual events throughout the year, within its tranquil and sustainable space. Bhaktivedanta Hospital & Research Institute is a non-profit, multi-speciality, hospital providing holistic healthcare and at the cutting-edge of medical research. Every child should be educated, which means every child must be fed so they can concentrate in class. Hunger and illiteracy are two of India’s most widespread and pressing problems. Annamrita works with the Government of India’s Midday Meals programme to feed over 1.2 million children daily for free. The Bhakti Centre is a spiritual cultural center on New York City’s Lower East Sid...

New Delhi: Geeta Devi, 55, doesn’t realise it, but she speaks of spiritual enlightenment in the language of science. “It’s like a network of wires, you see. Only once they’re all connected, and electricity flows through them unbroken, can the lightbulb come on.” She smiles as she says this, adding, “It’ll take some time for you to understand it, it’s not something that can really be explained in words.” We’re walking away from the canopied shade of a large enclosure, where hundreds of devotees are still in various stages of self-recollection, some with their heads bowed, others sitting in seemingly profound stillness. In the 60-minute satsang (sermon) we have just heard, devotion, discipline and a desire to connect with the “one, true guru” is offered as the “only path to understanding the realities of this world”. Materialism, fickle personal attachments, and capital-driven calendars of “eating, sleeping and accumulating personal wealth” are presented as modern-day obstacles to comprehending the true purpose of our lives. But outside the cocoon of the Radha Soami Satsang Beas (RSSB) ashram in Bhati, Chhatarpur, the spiritual organisation’s moral messaging is becoming increasingly hard to believe. The century-old spiritual organisation’s head, 64-year-old Gurinder Singh Dhillon, is at the centre of one of India’s most high-profile business fiascos this year. Baba Gurinder Singh Dhillon | Radha Soami Satsang Beas | www.rssb.org In October, former billionaire brothers Malvin...
