UP Bypolls: Azamgarh & Rampur placed faith in PM Modi's inclusive development, says Naqvi

After the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) registered a massive victory in the Uttar Pradesh bypolls and conquered the Samajwadi Party's fortress in Azamgarh and Rampur, Union Minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi stated that the pubic has placed their faith in inclusive development of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. The Union Minister said, “By-polls were held in various parts of the country where the BJP has performed well. As far as the Rampur by-polls are concerned, for the first time in history, BJP and Samajwadi Party were locking horns directly because Congress and BSP were absent in the field and were indirectly supporting SP. But the people have posed their faith in the BJP at places where 45% of voters are Muslims. They have laid their trust in PM Modi’s idea of inclusive development.” While praising the UP CM, Naqvi added, “The people have given their opinion in the form of votes on the state’s all-round development and the law and order situation under Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.” Naqvi takes a dig at SP's Azam Khan Asserting that "some people thought they have an exclusive right over votes as a particular place is their bastion," Naqvi took a dig at Samajwadi Party leader Azam Khan, who was an MP from the Rampur Lok Sabha seat until recently when he was elected the MLA in the Assembly elections held earlier this year. The UP CM Tweeted,"The victory in the by-election in Rampur Lok Sabha seat is a seal of public's faith in the double eng...

Lok Sabha bypoll in UP: Low turnout in Azamgarh and Rampur, a warning signal for Yogi

The low turnout in the by-elections of Rampur and Azamgarh Lok Sabha seats in Uttar Pradesh is an indicator of people’s apathy towards elections and raises a big question mark over the organisational skills of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leadership. The Election Commission’s data reveals that 48.58 per cent polling was reported in the Azamgarh Lok Sabha seat and 41 per cent people exercised their right of franchise in Rampur. Whereas in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, Rampur recorded 63.19 per cent voting while Azamgarh recorded 57.56 percent polling. The counting of votes will be on June 26. During the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, there was an alliance between the SP and the BSP, and Akhilesh Yadav had won easily, getting 6.21 lakh votes against BJP’s Dinesh Lal Yadav Nirahua, who had got 3.61 lakh votes. In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, Azam Khan had received 5,59,177 votes, whereas BJP candidate Jaya Prada got 4,49,180 votes and Congress candidate Sanjay Kapoor lost his deposit. “The low polling percentage shows the people have shown no interest in this election and only the loyal voters came out to use their right of franchise. This is a clear indication that people do not want any change in these parliamentary segments,” Manoj Bhadra, a political analyst said. He said that the low turnout is a warning signal for the BJP that it has failed to mobilize voters and could not motivate them to vote for it in this by-election. The BJP leadership claimed to have reached out t...

Bypolls: Big blow to SP as BJP wrests its bastions of Rampur, Azamgarh

The Bharatiya Janata Party on Sunday wrested both Rampur and Azamgarh Lok Sabha seats in Uttar Pradesh from the main opposition Samajwadi Party, prompting Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath to assert that it reflected the outcome of the 2024 general elections in which the saffron party would win all 80 seats in the state. In the Azamgarh Lok Sabha constituency, a seat previously held by SP chief Akhilesh Yadav, BJP's Dinesh Lal Yadav 'Nirahua' defeated SP candidate Dharmendra Yadav by a margin of 8,679 votes. While Adityanath hailed the two victories as reflection of the 2024 general elections, SP chief Akhilesh Yadav termed the results 'murder of democracy'. Both Rampur and Azamgarh seats were held by the Samajwadi Party in the 2019 polls. An elated Adityanath said people have sent a message that they are not ready to accept 'dynastic' and 'casteist' parties, and those who incite communal tensions and are criminals. "Today's victory has given this message very clearly in front of everyone that in 2024, the BJP is going to win 80 out of 80 seats in Uttar Pradesh," he said at...
