Realme Pad X review: an all

Chinese smartphone giant Realme ventured into the tablet space with the wallet-friendly Realme Pad last year. Recently, the company announced the successor to the device in the form of the Realme Pad X which retails for a starting price of Rs 19,999 in India. The 5G tablet packs in a Snapdragon 695 SoC, a 10.5-inch WUXGA+ panel, a quad-speaker setup with Dolby Atmos support, and more. Suffice it to say, the unit checks a lot of boxes and offers an enticing spec sheet. So, should you spend your hard-earned bucks on the Pad X? Or, should you opt for the Xiaomi Pad 5 ( Table of Contents • • • • • The lowdown Much like the Realme Pad, the Pad X has also been built like a tank and the device offers a robust chassis. Despite that, the unit measures just 7.1mm and weighs well under 500 grams, thereby ensuring the device gets top marks in the portability department too. The keyboard case, however, makes the entire ensemble a bit heavy at nearly 900 grams. I was sent the Glacier Blue colour for review which looks pleasantly unique owing to the matte finish plastered on the tablet’s back. That said, the keyboard case all but covers up the unit’s aesthetics, which is a bummer. As for the I/O, the device ships with two speaker grills which are positioned on either side of the tablet’s frame. The volume rocker and the power button have been positioned adjacent to one another, with the former taking up space on the tablet’s right-hand spine, and the latter finding a spot up top, next to...

Realme Pad X review

Realme is diving head-first into the tablet space. While the company has traditionally steered clear from tablets, it launched the Realme Pad last year. Now, it’s following up with a new option — the Realme Pad X. The Realme Pad X is clearly designed to take inspiration from another tablet out there — the most popular tablet, in fact. The device looks very much like Realme Pad X design As mentioned, the design of the Realme Pad X is heavily inspired by the iPad Air. It offers the same squared-off edges, and while it doesn’t come in as many color options, you can get it in a nice light blue that’s reminiscent of the blue option for the iPad Air. When held vertically, you’ll get a volume rocker on the left edge, a power button on the top, and Image source: Christian de Looper for BGR The tablet seems to be built for horizontal use though — not vertical. That’s because there’s a front-facing camera in the side bezel, so you get a more natural view during video calls. I prefer that by far — the only time I really use the front-facing camera on a tablet is for video calls. Generally, despite the price tag, the tablet looks and feels quite premium. It’s made largely from plastic, but it doesn’t feel cheap by any means. Realme Pad X display The Realme Pad X comes with a 1200 x 2000 pixel LCD display, and it’s fine but nothing to really write home about. It’s 10.95 inches, which I find to be in the sweet spot of tablet display sizes — it’s not so big as to be unwieldy, but it also...
