This year's Republic Day celebrations will take place on the newly-built Kartavya Path in New Delhi, and there are also a series of new events planned to showcase its cultural heritage and military prowess. With the adoption of the Constitution on 26 January 1950, India declared itself a Sovereign, Democratic, and Republic state. As a result, every year on this day, the union government and citizens observe Republic Day. President Droupadi Murmu led the nation in celebrating the 74th Republic Day from Kartavya Path with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi as the chief guest at the parade. The week-long celebrations commenced on January 23, the birth anniversary of iconic freedom fighter Subhas Chandra Bose, now celebrated as Parakram Diwas, and will culminate on January 30, which is observed as Martyrs' Day. With the National Anthem, the Republic Day2023 parade at Kartavya Path concludes. The Republic Day parade was a unique mix of India's military prowess and cultural diversity, depicting the country’s growing indigenous capabilities, Nari Shakti and emergence of a ‘New India’, according to the ministry of Defence. A total of 23 tableaux – 17 from states and Union territories and six from various ministries and departments – depicting India's vibrant cultural heritage, and economic and social progress were part of the parade on the Kartavya Path. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu extended his wishes to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Indians on Republic Day and said that the relationship between the two countries would grow stronger.
