Rishabh Pant accident: Hospital releases latest update on cricketer's MRI and surgery

Indian cricketer Rishabh Pant’s MRI results of the brain and spine have reportedly returned normal after the 25-year-old wicket-keeper suffered multiple injuries in a horrific car crash in Roorkee on Friday morning Pant has also undergone plastic surgery on his facial injuries, lacerated wounds and abrasion on the back, reported ESPN Cricinfo. The Team India star, however, will undergo further MRI scan on his ankle and knee tomorrow as it was postponed earlier today due to pain and swelling at the Max Hospital in Dehradun. Rishabh Pant issues first statement after accident

Pant was involved in a road accident in the early hours of 30 December as he was driving from Roorkee to New Delhi. Eyewitnesses and videos that surfaced later showed Pant's car had caught fire but he was able to escape. The BCCI confirmed that the left-hander had suffered injuries to his head, back and feet. He had two cuts on his forehead, a ligament tear in his right knee and had also hurt his right wrist, ankle, toe and suffered abrasion injuries on his back. The BCCI then arranged for Pant to be shifted from Dehradun to Mumbai for further treatment. The update stated that Pant would undergo surgery and subsequent procedures for the ligament tears he suffered and would be monitored by the BCCI medical team going forward. "The Board will make every effort to aid and expedite the recovery process of Rishabh and will provide him with all the support he needs during this period," the statement said. Pant has now issued his first statement since the accident, stating that his surgery was a success and that he was bracing up for a long road to recovery. It shows that Pant is making a fast recovery from his injury. Rishabh Pant played his last game for Indian Cricket Team against Bangladesh on December 22, 2022, in the longest format of the game. Pant was immediately ruled out from the upcoming ICC World Cup following his injury. He had to go through three crucial surgeries to get on his feet. During his initial days of recovery, the 25-year-old visited the training camp and matches of the Delhi-based franchise and earlier he also made a short visit to the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru to encourage the young stars of Indian cricket. Rishabh Pant made his international cricket debut in 2017 against England in the T20I format, after which he scored 987 runs in 66 matches. He made his Test cricket debut in 2018 against the English side following which he made appearances in 33 matches and scored 2271 runs.
