A city court granted bail to IPS officer D Roopa in connection with a defamation case filed by IAS officer Rohini Sindhuri. IPS officer D Roopa had appeared before the court on Tuesday and the court granted her bail with conditions. IAS officer Rohini Sindhuri had lodged a private complaint against IPS officer Roopa that the latter was indulging in character assassination. Sindhuri had accused Roopa of making statements against her in the media and in social media that had put a dent on her personal, social and professional life. Sindhuri had also accused Roopa of causing her mental agony. Meanwhile, IPS officer Roopa had approached the High Court to reject the criminal defamation case filed against her by IAS officer Rohini Sindhuri. However, Judge M Nagaprasanna had recused himself from hearing the plea, on Monday. The criminal plea filed by the IPS officer in the high court had come up before the high court judge M Nagaprasanna. But the judge recused himself from hearing the plea saying that he had represented IAS officer Rohini Sindhuri in a different case earlier. A Right To Information activist on Wednesday accused Indian Police Service (IPS) officer D Roopa of sending him Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer Rohini Sindhuri’s private pictures a day after the Karnataka government removed the two officers from their posts without further postings for trading serious charges. She had sent private pictures of Rohini Sindhuri and asked me to condemn it.” This came as an audio clip surfaced on Wednesday in which Roopa is purportedly heard bad-mouthing Sindhuri and alleging her of misusing her powers. Roopa is also allegedly heard pressurising Gangaraju to file a complaint against Sindhuri. HT could not independently verify the veracity of the clip.
