But despite sharing its power unit with the Classic and Meteor, the Hunter 350 is a new bike. There’s a new chassis, wheels, dimensions, and weight – and it’s the lightest bike in the current Enfield range. The Hunter 350 has been designed to take on the urban environment, with sporty and relatively light 17-inch wheels front and back, a first for Royal Enfield. Overall weight is down compared to its 350 cousins (172kg dry), while its wheelbase is shorter and the steering head steeper. The Hunter 350 has primarily been designed for the Indian and emerging markets, riding environments in which a 350 is considered a middleweight. Over 80% of Royal Enfield’s global sales come from India alone and the design and production teams, split between the UK and India, wanted to make a bike that was accessible on price and size, agile, comfortable, lightweight, stylish, and modern for that audience. Royal Enfield recently announced that it has sold 77,461 motorcycles in May 2023, witnessing a YoY sales growth of 22 percent. The company reported an MoM growth of 5.9% against 73,136 unit sales in April 2023. Exports for the two-wheeler manufacturer were at 6,666 units last month as compared to 4,225 units in April 2023. Royal Enfield saw a domestic sales of 70,795 units in May 2023 against 53,525 units in the same period last year. In terms of MoM, the two-wheeler manufacturer registered a domestic sales gorwth of 2.7 percent.
