Falgu Rubber Dam To Open On Sept 8: Min

GAYA: Chief minister Water resources minister Sanjay Kumar Jha, who inspected the rubber dam near Vishnupad temple, said, “The chief minister has named it ‘Gaya Ji Dam’. The actual target was to complete the rubber dam project by October next year, but the CM wanted its completion before the beginning of Pitripaksha Mela. The CM had laid the foundation for the rubber dam on September 23, 2020,” he added. “Lakhs of Hindu, Buddhist and Jain devotees visit Gaya every year and they face difficulties due to unavailability of water in the Falgu, except during the monsoon season. Now, water in the Falgu near Vishnupad temple will remain available throughout the year, enabling the pilgrims to take a dip in the river before performing the rituals like ‘tarpan’ and ‘pindadaan’,” the minister said.The steel bridge on the other side of the Falgu rubber dam would also attract attraction of the tourists. The rubber dam has improved the underground water level in the town. “It is due to the efforts of officials and the engineers of water resources department that the target has been achieved. It is for the first time that based on modern technology, the rubber dam has been made in the Falgu river instead of the traditional concrete dam. The rubber dam will have no adverse impact on the environment. Design of the project was prepared by the experts of IIT Roorkee,” Jha said. Nitish Kumar, the Chief Minister of Bihar, has opened the Gayaji Dam, the country’s longest rubber dam, on the Falgu River in Gaya. An approximate Rs 324 crore was spent on the development of the dam. The project featured experts from IIT (Roorkee). There will always be enough groundwater in the barrier for pilgrims’ comfort. Due to its development, devotees who come to the Falgu River at Vishnupad Ghat to perform Pind Daan will now have access to a minimum of 2 feet of water all year round. • On the suggestion of specialists from IIT Roorkee, the Rubina Company of Austria built the Gayaji Dam in partnership with Nagarjuna Building Company of Hyderabad. • In addition to the rubber dam, the Falgu River’s banks have been improved, and a steel crossing has been constructed so pilgrims can visit Sita Kund. • Rubber that is 17 mm thick makes up the rubber dam. Its width is 400 metres, and its elevation is 3 metres. The dam’s total water capacity will be roughly 2.5 km after completion. • Bar Dam has been maintained at a 3 m height. It can retain three metres of water. If more water is present, it will flow from the top of the rubber dam downward or toward the north. GAYA: Chief minister The CM performed puja in the water of the rubber dam and offered prayers to Goddess Sita, who had cursed Falgu to remain a subterranean river. He also offered prayers at Vishnupad temple along with Tejashwi and others. "Gaya is the land of salvation (moksha). Lakhs of pilgrims from across the country and abroad come to Gaya to perform 'pindadaan' rituals. It was necessary to improve facilities for the pilgrims who come to Gaya throughout the year. Apart from the rubber dam, a foot overbridge has also been made for the pilgrims to go to Sitakund on the other side of the Falgu river.
