There’s no headline-grabbing 200MP camera, built-in S Pen or crazy 100x Space Zoom. The S23 Plus feels more iteration than innovation at first glance, much like the Galaxy S22 Plus before it. If, however, you’re looking for a flagship phone for less than $1,000, the Galaxy S23 Plus makes a very good argument for belonging in your pocket. I’ve spent the last several days thoroughly testing the Galaxy S23 Plus, and there are some real standout improvements here. The display is brighter and among the best you’ll find on an Android phone. The battery life is longer. And the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy chip beats the iPhone 14 Pro on graphics performance. Best of all, the Galaxy S23 Plus surpasses the iPhone 14 Pro in my head-to-head camera testing. Samsung Galaxy S23 Plus review: Price and availab...

Galaxy S23 Plus review: The Goldilocks of Samsung's 2023 phones

Samsung's S23 lineup spans a wide range of prices and capabilities. The standard $799 Galaxy S23, for instance, is the most affordable and boasts the smallest display of the lot. The S23 Ultra is on the opposite end of the spectrum, carrying a $1,200 price tag, a massive camera upgrade, and the largest display Samsung offers in a traditional smartphone. Samsung absolutely nailed the S23 Plus' balance of performance, features, and price. Then there's the $999 Galaxy S23 Plus. The phone that, it appears, Samsung has gotten just right. It's priced just under $1,000, with a display that's big enough for work or play, a camera setup that's sure to get your photos some attention, and performance that matches the S23 Ultra. At least, that's what it looks like on paper. I've spent the last couple of weeks testing the S23 Plus, putting it through its paces to see if this is the Galaxy S23 model that most people should get. And, well, you're going to have to keep reading to find the answer. Samsung Galaxy S23 and S23 Plus Review: It's All About the Battery Life

Samsung Event, CNET's collection of news, tips and advice around Samsung's most popular products. Samsung hasn't been shy about flaunting the cameras on its new phones. It even wrangled endorsements from acclaimed directors Ridley Scott and Na Hong-jin during its Galaxy S23 announcement. However, in a surprising move for Samsung, the camera plays second fiddle to battery and performance upgrades in the new Galaxy S23 and S23 Plus. Performance is faster, and battery life is thankfully a bit longer, which addresses the biggest complaint I had about the Galaxy S22. But unlike the Galaxy S23 Ultra's cameras, which have noticeable improvements in color tone and dynamic range along with a new 200-megapixel sensor, the Galaxy S23 and S23 Plus' cameras largely feel the same as last year. And that's OK. We're past the point of revolutionary annual upgrades, and the Galaxy S23 is the perfect example of that. Instead, Samsung focused on making practical refinements to one of the areas that matters most in a phone: how long it lasts on a single charge. Still, you shouldn't upgrade to the S23 or S23 Plus unless your phone is more than two years old since it's not a radical change. One of the Galaxy S23's biggest drawbacks, however, isn't a flaw with the phone itself, but rather the tough competition from Google. The $899 Pixel 7 Pro falls in between the Galaxy S23 and S23 Plus pricewise and offers a stellar camera that bests Samsung's in some scenarios. Samsung, however, does offer com...
