The eight-part series on Disney + Hotstar builds up to the big announcement, which comes with a juicy twist. After fending off a deadly (but anticipated) attack by archnemesis Monk ( Rani Ba calls her family into a holding cell where Proshun (Jimit Trivedi), the conscientious narcotics officer obsessed with exposing the cartel is imprisoned, and assigns them a final task to be deemed worthy of the hot seat: shoot the innocent man. Dhiman makes a jump for the gun; he’s been walking on thin ice ever since Kapil revealed the seemingly incestuous Dhiman-Shanta relationship, and will do anything to reaffirm his loyalty. But Proshun has a trump card: a game-changing secret he’ll reveal only to Rani Ba. For no apparent reason, Kajal tries to strike him down at this. Anwar Says: Matriarchy presented in a completely new avatar and a deadly drug cartel is being run by the all women in the family. The egos of men, when they enter, are killed by showing them that the show can be run by women. Homi Adajania has been able to create the atmosphere and the show is neither too paced nor too slow. Ruthless badass Savitri's character was written keeping only Dimple Kapadia in mind. She says so much with her eyes and stillness that many can't even with loads of dialogues. Second to watch is nuances of Isha Talwar which she performed with conviction. Radhika Madan and Angira Dhar also played their twisted role well. Deepak Dobriyal as monk never impresses. Nasiruddin Shah seems to be out of even pocket money, so that he accepts such insignificant roles. But what doesn't work for the series is predictability. You smell every turn much before and that makes the story haywire. Dialect used are also not well researched and rehearsed. Many a sequence are not connected and are unanswered.
