Samsung Galaxy S8 specs

Description With the Samsung Galaxy S8, Samsung is aiming to set a new benchmark, defining what a modern smartphone should look and feel like. Without a doubt, the most striking feature of the device is its curved Infinity Display that visually stretches from edge to edge. The screen is also taller, allowing the phone to be manageable in one hand, all while providing plentiful display space. Like it or not, the physical buttons have been replaced with on-screen ones, while the fingerprint scanner has been re-positioned on the back. The camera is similar to the one on the Galaxy S7, but the improved software allows the phone to deliver better photos by stitching areas of multiple frames together. On the hardware front, the Snapdragon 835 provides plenty of processing power, all while being more energy efficient than its predecessors. Camera Rear: Single camera Main camera: 12 MP (OIS, PDAF) Specifications: Aperture size: F1.7; Focal length: 26 mm; Sensor size: 1/2.55"; Pixel size: 1.4 μm Video recording: 3840x2160 (4K UHD) (30 fps), 2560x1440 (QHD), 1920x1080 (Full HD) (60 fps), 1280x720 (HD) (240 fps) Features: HDR, Time-lapse video, Hyperlapse, Continuous autofocus, Object tracking, Picture-taking during video recording, Video light, EIS, Video calling, Video sharing Front: 8 MP (Wide Angle, Autofocus, HDR) Video capture: 2560x1440 (QHD) Design Dimensions: 5.86 x 2.68 x 0.31 inches (148.9 x 68.1 x 8.0 mm) Weight: 5.47 oz (155.0 g) Materials: Back: Glass (Corning Gorilla G...

Samsung Galaxy S8 review: Essence distilled

Introduction When 5 inches is the de-facto standard for a compact Android handset, yet you want to prove that more is always better, what do you do? Well, it depends on the definition of more. You can do something It's pretty much the same phone as the Galaxy S7. Size-wise, that is. Only with a 5.8" display where there used to be a 5.1" screen. 5.8=5.1. How is this possible? Well, maybe the new Galaxy S is from the same book as Now, back to present time. The LG G6 has been around for some time, and we also asked you to look beyond the diagonal in our Galaxy S8+ review earlier this week. Displays are getting taller and breaking out of the 16:9 box they were trapped in for a few years now. But while LG opted for a square times-two 18:9 ratio, Samsung went with 18.5:9, because why not. Both of this season's premium Galaxies are in this bizarre 2.06:1 aspect, but the regular S8 is petite. It's a millimeter wider than an iPhone 7 with a screen surface of some 40% more than the small-sized Apple (that's real estate, not diagonal, so it isn't apples to oranges). Put the S8 next to an S7 and the new one is actually narrower, and visibly so. So from the get go we'd say that the S8 has the most screen you can get in a phone this size, and even a few sizes up. The flat S-series design is no more. This year's phones both feature the signature Samsung curved screens. Ever so subtle and nothing like the Note Edge that started it all. Evolution. This very much finite Infinity display is ...

It gets top-end specs and features into sleek and relatively compact devices, and that's the case again with the Galaxy S8 and S8+. Samsung Galaxy S8 Review

Cons • Awkward fingerprint scanner placement. • Average battery life. Samsung sets the pace for smartphone power in 2017 with the Galaxy S8 ($750 as tested). It's the best Carriers and Pricing This is a review of the smaller Galaxy S8. There is also a larger The Galaxy S8 is available from every major carrier in the US and several prepaid carriers. While it's only available from carriers right now, an unlocked version will follow in May or June. Prices in the US vary from $659 on Walmart's Total Wireless, to $750 at AT&T, Sprint, and T-Mobile (I tested the phone on Sprint and T-Mobile). Other countries have a different device with a different Samsung Exynos processor that may function differently. Physical Design "The core idea behind the Galaxy S8...has been to deliver the biggest screen in the smallest device possible," Robert Kim, vice president of Samsung's global product strategy team, told me at Samsung's headquarters in Korea. "The contradiction is that [customers] want to have a bigger screen size but a small form factor," Kim added. By shrinking bezels and bending edges, Samsung makes that happen. Samsung Galaxy S8 review

The large, bezel-less display is truly iconic and beautiful, and the screen quality excellent. The fingerprint scanner being placed on the back is a poor decision from Samsung, as well as the iris scanner / facial recognition not working well enough to be a real consideration. However, these aren’t deal breakers, and the improved battery life and tweaked camera will be among the best you’ll find. The screen is brilliant - clear, sharp and offers lovely color reproduction to make movie watching a dream, and that's before you've even got to the fact it has a screen larger than the Though this is slightly less remarkable now that Apple has fully switched to the all-screen design with all its latest handsets, such as the The Galaxy S8 isn't perfect - in the search to squeeze the screen in so completely, other factors were overlooked: namely, the placement of the fingerprint reader. If you want this phone, you'll need to answer this question: are you OK using an iris scanner, one that doesn't always work when you want it to? And if you're looking for something even bigger, and with a much-improved battery life to boot, then the Weight: 155g Dimensions: 148.9 x 68.1 x 8mm OS: Android 8.0 Screen size: 5.8-inch Resolution: 1440 x 2960 CPU: Snapdragon 835/Exynos 8895 RAM: 4GB Storage: 64GB Battery: 3,000mAh Rear camera: 12MP Front camera: 8MP The Samsung Galaxy S8 carried a hefty price tag when it arrived in April 2017, but close to two years on the cost has reduced significantly, ...
