Young Indian all-rounder Arjun Tendulkar, who is the son of legendary batter Sachin Tendulkar, scored his maiden first-class century on his Ranji Trophy debut for Goa against Rajasthan on Wednesday (December 14). The 23-year-old faced a total of 207 balls and scored 120 runs with the help of 16 fours and two sixes. By scoring a century on his debut, the young left-handed batter matched his father’s feat, who also scored a century on his Ranji Trophy debut back in 1988 against Gujarat. Sachin, who is 49 now, made his Ranji Trophy debut as a 15-year-old at the Wankhede Stadium on December 10, 1988, and scored 100 not out on the second day after coming out to bat at number four. Arjun, who was associated with Mumbai previously shifted his base to Goa ahead of the start of the domestic season this year and got the chance to represent the West Zone side in Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (SMAT) and Vijay Hazare Trophy matches as well.
