The presence or absence of antigens helps categorize the different blood types. In addition to the universal recipient type, there are seven blood types: O positive, O negative, A positive, A negative, B positive, B negative, and AB negative. If you have blood type A, you have an A antigen. If you have blood type B, you have a B antigen.
