2. Formulations and uses. For oral use CHX comes in several different formulations. In the United Kingdom (UK) and Europe 0.2% CHX mouthwash (Corsodyl TM) is available over the counter (OTC), as either an alcohol-containing or non-alcohol formulation. 0.2% tends to be recommended for short-term intensive plaque control, whereas 0.06% is referred to as a daily rinse.



The Colgate Peroxyl® mouth sore rinse helps cleanse and promote healing of minor oral irritations. Peroxyl’s oxygenating action helps remove oral debris to facilitate the healing of oral sores, irritations, and mouth burns. Peroxyl also soothes minor gum inflammation from dental procedures, dentures, and orthodontic appliances.



Fluoride mouth rinses are a concentrated solution that you swish in your mouth and around your teeth as directed, typically once a day or weekly. Fluoride supplements are available as a tablet or lozenge and are consumed by chewing or sucking on the supplement before swallowing.
