New Aiims To Renovation Of Secunderabad Station: Pm Modi To Launch Projects Worth Rs 11,300 Crore During Telangana Visit On April 8

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch developmental projects worth over Rs 11,355 crores during his visit to Telangana on April 8. He will flag off the Secunderabad-Tirupati Vande Bharat Express and lay the foundation stone for the renovation of Secunderabad station. He will also lay the foundation stone for a new AIIMS in Hyderabad and launch National Highway projects worth over Rs 7,850 crores. PM Modi’s schedule also includes the launch of 13 new Multi-Modal Transport Service (MMTS) projects in the suburban section of Hyderabad as per the PMO’s statement. These projects are aimed to strengthen the road connectivity of both Telangana and Andhra Pradesh and provide a fast and convenient travel option for the twin city commuters respectively.

Habibgunj or Rani Kamlapati station in Madhya Pradesh became another modernised version of what a traditional railway station usually looks like with airport terminal like features. A Bengaluru station in Karnataka too has undergone a similar swank change along with Gandhinagar station in Gujarat, whereas the chances of Secunderabad railway station getting such a look anytime soon increasingly looks remote. All these three stations were developed under the public, private partnership mode by the Indian Railways Stations Development Corporation (IRSDC) in association with the State governments. Special purpose vehicle Secunderabad station, the marquee station of the South Central Railway (SCR) was also to have been redesigned and ‘modernised’ by the same railways special purpose vehicle formed by joint equity participation of IRCON International and Rail Estate Development Authority (REDA) in 2012 with the objective to give an airport look to at least 150 railway stations across the country. Funding for Secunderabad railway station facelift increased to Rs 719 crore

By Express News Service HYDERABAD: Telangana will soon have one of the most advanced, state-of-the-art railway stations, as the Centre aims to provide world-class railway infrastructure and amenities at the Secunderabad station. The project, which was initially budgeted at around Rs 650 crore, has now been increased to Rs 719 crore to meet global standards and provide airport-level facilities to passengers. On Tuesday, Union Minister Kishan Reddy announced on Twitter that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lay the foundation stone for the redevelopment of Secunderabad railway station on April 8, 2023. The station will be upgraded to provide better connectivity and mobility for rail passengers, with seamless transfers from one mode to another, adequate parking, convenient pickup and drop-off areas, and decongestion of the circulating area. It also aims to generate business opportunities and revenue. The redevelopment project will include the construction of a new station building on the existing north side with G+3 floors (22,516 sq metres) and the extension of the existing south-side building with G+3 floors (14,792 sq metres). A double-story sky concourse of 108 metres in width will also be constructed, with the first tier serving passengers and the second tier serving the public as a rooftop plaza. According to Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), the redevelopment of Secunderabad Railway Station, to be done at a cost of Rs 720 crore, is being planned such that it will undergo a massive makeover with world-class amenities and an aesthetically designed iconic station building. The redeveloped station would be having double-level spacious roof plaza with all passenger amenities at one place along with multimodal connectivity for providing seamless transfer of passengers from rail to other modes among others, said the PMO statement. He will flag off Secunderabad-Tirupati Vande Bharat Express at Secunderabad Railway Station. The Secunderabad-Tirupati Vande Bharat Express, connecting IT City, Hyderabad with the Abode of Lord Venkateswara, Tirupati, is the second Vande Bharat train to be started from Telangana within a short span of three months. The train will reduce the travel time between the two cities by almost three and a half hours and will be particularly beneficial for pilgrim passengers. During the programme, Prime Minister will flag off 13 new Multi-Modal Transport Service (MMTS) services in the suburban section of the Hyderabad- Secunderabad twin city region, providing commuters with a fast, convenient and comfortable travel option.
