How to use reminders in Microsoft Outlook

Reminders

Create reminders for yourself or others in your household, and get notifications at the time you choose. To send and receive reminders from somebody else, both people must either be in a family group together or have their accounts linked to a shared Google Assistant-enabled speaker or smart display. To set up a family group, just say “Hey Google, set up my family.” If you’d like to receive reminders while on the go, you must have the Google Assistant downloaded and activated on your mobile phone.

Get reminders from Cortana

Cortana helps you remember what's important by setting reminders for the right time and by helping you organize your lists in Microsoft To Do. You can create a reminder with Cortana in Windows by saying, "Set a reminder." Note, however, that you will only be able to receive a reminder notification on a Windows device if you created the reminder on that device. Manage your reminders Edit reminders: You can edit your reminders in the Microsoft To Do app on your phone or PC. Cancel a reminder: To cancel a reminder you’ve already created, go to the Microsoft To Do app on your phone or PC. You can delete it from there. To cancel a reminder while you’re creating it, just say “Cancel” at any time. Set a recurring time reminder: To set a recurring reminder, tell Cortana exactly when you want to be reminded, and how often. For example, you can say “Hey Cortana, remind me every Tuesday at 6:30 PM to take out the trash.” Changes to Cortana reminders: If you previously were accustomed to setting reminders on your Invoke speaker or in the Cortana mobile app, use the Microsoft To Do app on your phone or PC instead. • Note: If you previously created reminders using the Cortana mobile app, they will continue to work until the reminder service is completely turned off on September 21, 2020. Set or remove reminders

Show reminders over other programs or apps You can set up Outlook to display your reminder window on top of other programs you're working in. • Select File > Options > Advanced. • In the Reminders section, check the box marked Show reminders on top of other windows. • Click OK. Note: This feature is not available for Outlook 2013, Outlook 2016, or 2019. For Microsoft 365 subscribers, this version is available if you are on Version 1804 (Build 9226.2114) or higher. Add or remove reminders for meetings This applies to all the existing appointments and meetings in the calendar. Create, find & edit reminders in Google Calendar

You can use reminders in Google Calendar to track tasks. Reminders repeat every day or until you mark them as done. Reminders are private and cannot be shared with others. Create a reminder • Open the Google Calendar app . • In the bottom right, tap Create Reminder. • Enter your reminder, or choose a suggestion. • Select a date, time, and frequency. • In the top right, tap Save. • The reminder appears in the Google Calendar app. When you mark a reminder as done, it’s crossed out. Tip: You can also create reminders in Find, edit, or delete reminders To remove a reminder from your calendar, you can either mark it as done or delete it. Mark a reminder as done When you mark a reminder as done, it appears crossed out on your calendar. You can mark a reminder as done in two ways: • In your Calendar, swipe right to mark the reminder as done. • Open the reminder to find details and tap Mark as done. How to set a reminder with Cortana in Windows 10

Time-based reminders To get started, bring up Cortana by using the keyboard shortcut Window key + C or by clicking the microphone in Search. You can tell Cortana to remind you at certain times. Need a reminder at 5:30 A.M. tomorrow? How about 9 P.M. every night? Or 2:33 P.M. on Tuesdays? It's up to you. Here are some examples: • Remind me to get the laundry in 30 minutes. • Remind me to throw the garbage every Monday night • Remind me to go to the post office tomorrow morning • Remind me to wash the car in 2 days at 7 P.M. • Remind me to pick up Sheila from the train station on September 3rd at 12 P.M. Location-based reminders You can tell Cortana to remind you certain things when you leave or arrive at certain locations. This type of reminders works best if you also also have a phone running Windows 10 because any reminders you set in your PC also gets stored in Cortana's notebook in your phone. Here are some examples: • Remind me to water the plants I get home • Remind me to buy groceries when I leave the house • Remind me to buy milk and bread when I get to Trader Joe's • Remind me to get cash when I'm near any ATM Person-based reminders You can tell Cortana to remind you anything next time you talk to certain people in your contacts book.
