Review: Shahid Kapoor’s ‘Jersey’ Comes Alive When It Moves Away From Action

The underdog’s fight for redemption and honor, a tough coach, training montages and a nail-biting last ball victory— all have been obediently incorporated and yet Jersey truly comes alive only when it moves away from the cricketing action and match sequences and explores the relationship dynamics that form the beating heart of the story. Arjun played by a wonderfully restrained Shahid Kapoor has the body language of a man defeated by fate and circumstance. The world might judge him harshly but Arjun wants to be the hero his son believes him to be. The scenes between him and Kittu played by a young Ronit Kamra are beautifully crafted and moving, giving us an insight into the only validation that an otherwise dejected player needs— to be the best dad to his son. The other thread running parallel is between Arjun and his wife Vidya. We see their relationship grow as the story progresses. From two people barely able to keep their hands and eyes off each other to a marriage punctured by lack of intimacy and unexpressed resentment. Mrunal Thakur has a calming, angelic presence and while we have seen her play similar characters this one is a more chiseled role which she nails completely. Every few minutes we are reminded of the jersey which young Kittu wants for his birthday and how Arjun is unable to arrange for a mere Rs 500 to buy it. This is repeated so many times that one is almost tempted to take out the money from our wallet and get done with it! Jersey could easily have b...

The film unravels the story of Sumair (Shahid) as he faces off against Gurugram's white-collar drug lords, deceitful friends, a ruthless crime boss, murderous narcs, and both corrupt and honest cops - all during one fateful night. Bloody Daddy Movie Review: Shahid Kapoor's bloody good action debut should be on top of your watch list

Jio Studios is bringing a wide variety of content to Jio Cinemas. It seems to be packing a great deal to pull the audience to its OTT platform. The latest release is Bloody Daddy starring Shahid Kapoor, Ronit Roy, Rajeev Khandelwal, Sanjay Kapoor, Diana Penty and more. Shahid Kapoor and Ronit Roy alongside the team of Bloody Daddy have claimed that it was pitched as a ‘big scale OTT movie’ to them. Given the fact that it’s Shahid Kapoor with some terrific actors adding to the cast of Bloody Daddy, one could easily debate whether the movie should have had a theatrical release. Also Read - Watch the trailer video of Bloody Daddy here: What’s HOT? THE Shahid Kapoor! Mainly Shahid but we must give due credit to the rest of the cast which consists of Watching What's NOT? Nothing really. The film's pace is slow poison kind but it's honestly no big deal. In some places, however, the pace one might feel, falter but it picks up right again. It could have been trimmed a little but even that's arguable. BL Verdict: Bloody Daddy deserves a watch and several times. Despite the remake era in Bollywood pulling down the standards, Bloody Daddy doesn't disappoint at all. Instead, it takes you on a rollercoaster ride which by the end of the movie, will leave you hooting and eventually pull you back in the queue for another ride. Shahid Kapoor is ace, Ronit Roy is fab and Rajeev Khandelwal is amazing! Going with 4.5 stars.

How Bollywood star Shahid Kapoor spent his whole life preparing for Farzi

Bollywood star Farzi was initially envisioned as a feature film. But as creators Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK delved further into their story, which follows a disillusioned artist who decides to use his gift to make counterfeit currency, they realised there was much more to their antihero than what could be told in a two-hour film. "I got involved almost eight years ago when the story was first discussed as a film," Kapoor tells The National. "I loved the idea and the character they offered me. But when Raj and DK felt it might be better as a TV show, I couldn't commit the time and we kind of went our separate ways." Raj and DK, as they are known in the industry, approached Kapoor for another film a few years later. "By then I had binge-watched The Family Man and I said: 'Alright, but what about doing a show together?'" Kapoor says, referring to the duo's hit spy thriller, which has a third season out soon. "They were really shocked and didn't expect me to want to do something for streaming. And I was like: 'Listen, you guys are the best. I loved your show. And if you have something, we should collaborate'. "That's when they told me that they had converted Farzi into a show and took me through it. I heard it and knew it was something that I wanted to do and here we are." Shahid Kapoor as Sunny in Farzi.
