Maihar Temple

The name Maihar is created from the mixture of 2 words 'Mai'(Mother) + 'Har'(Necklace). In line with the Hindu Mythology it's aforementioned that once lord Shiva was roaming while carrying the body of mother divinity Sati, the necklace (har) of divinity Sati(Mai) fell down in Maihar, therefore people started calling its name Maihar. It is also considered as one of the 51 Shakti Peeth of goddess Parvati.

Goddess Sharada is also called Saraswati. She is the Goddess of learning. She provides intelligence, mind, wisdom and logic. She helps to fulfill one’s desire in life by the dint of her power of knowledge. The Holy Maa Sharda Temple is situated in Village Maihar of Satna District in Madhya Pradesh. The place is well connected by road and train route. The approximate distance from Satna district headquarter is 40 Kms. The temple is situated on the Trikut mountain at a height of 600 ft from ground level. To reach the shrine one has to climb 1001 stairs. The temple is managed by Maa Sharda Prabhand Samiti. The committee, headed by district collector, has done significant work to enable better facilities to pilgrims and devotees visiting the temple from all over the country. Road route is constructed on the mountain so that the vehicle can be taken upto the hill top. By Train Normally all trains do not have stop at Maihar station but during Navratri festivals most of the trains stop at Maihar. Nearest railway station junction for all trains stoppage - Satna Station distance from Maihar Station aprox 36 KM. Katni Station distance from Maihar Station aprox 55 KM. Jabalpur Station distance from Maihar Station aprox 150 KM.

An Extremely Powerful Place to be. almost 1500 Years old. The Management is extremely Good. Three ways to go there 1) Rope way 2) Van and 3) Stairs. I suggest unless you are old or having some kind of physical problems go by stairs. around 1000 stairs not much. but once you will reach there all your tired ness will go away just by looking at Mai (the goddess). One the most beautiful Murti You have ever seen I bet. all the problems which are mentioned is petty. please understand it is not a picnic spot. what kind of comforts people are looking for ???? one day is sufficient .There are a lots of places to stay. they will charge you 30-150 rs for a whole day. the shops around is very cheap and people are very good. some evil people are everywhere like some tourist try to become over smart also. food is cheap, stay is cheap, no loot nothing. don't listen to the bad reviews. If you want comfort better to stay home. A temple is a not place for comfort. as long is crowd is concerned , it is everywhere Malls, hotels, Market. everywhere. Visit the temple it is Miraculous . Mai is the most beautiful thing in the entire world. Go with full faith and devotion. avoid the comments of Complains and cribbing. They do not know where to focus and where to not

The Kundali Bhagya actress shared photos of her visit on social media. The actress said that the experience was truly magical where she got to pray to the Goddess to her heart's content. In Maihar city of Satna district near Chitrakoot in Madhya Pradesh, which is called the heart of the Mythological stories and fables in the context of pilgrimage site – There is a very ancient mythological story behind the origin of this temple, according to which Sati, the daughter of Emperor Daksha, wanted to marry Lord Shiva, but King Daksha considered Shiva not a god, but a companion of ghosts and Aghoris and was opposed to this marriage. However, Sati married Lord Shiva against the wishes of her father. According to the story, once King Daksha created a yagya named ‘Brihaspati Sarva’, in this yagya Brahma, Vishnu, Indra and other gods and goddesses were also invited, but deliberately they did not call Lord Mahadev.
