CHENNAI: Carrying his four-month-old daughter, S Ameen joined the stream of visitors entering the Thiru Vi Ka Park at Shenoy Nagar after chief minister M K Stalin opened it to the public on Tuesday. Ameen had first visited the park as a six year old and was a regular until it was closed in 2011 for construction of a metro rail station. "I was eager to see what they had done to the park where I used to play as a kid," he said. Residents of Shenoy Nagar got back their park after almost 12 years, but without trees. The young were thrilled with the amenities -- a skating rink, musical fountains, gym, reading area, and courts for badminton, basketball, beach volleyball. The older generation that had seen the park with a lot of shade-giving trees as a lung space cribbed about the lost greenery and biodiversity. Nevertheless, people enjoyed the evening. But maintenance should be much better They should remove parthiniyam plants here. Its small, and lot of boys playing basketball. This skate park in Pulla Ave. is the best if you are looking at enrolling your child in skating classes. They have a levelled rink, which allows the kids to practice and learn how to balance. They also have a walking trail around the park for you parents. Once, the class is done, cool off in their swimming pool on site too!
