NASHIK: Six former councillors of Apart from these six councillors, four other local UBT office-bearers also joined the Shinde camp. Shiv Sena secretary Bhau Chaudhari and other office-bearers too were present during Saturday’s programme in Mumbai. Chaudhari said these councillors have joined the Shiv Sena due to the development works being undertaken by the Shinde-led state government. People are impressed by the prompt decisions taken by the chief minister, he said. The Shiv Sena (UTB) has received this jolt at a time when party leader and MP Sanjay Raut is on a Nashik tour. Councillors who joined Shiv Sena said they were fed up with Raut’s daily comments. They complained that they were also being treated badly by him. Therefore, they have chosen to join the Shinde camp for the growth of Surgana town. Apart from Bharat Waghmare, other Shiv Sena (UBT) councillors who joined Shiv Sena are Surgana nagar panchayat group leader Sachin Aher, Bhagwan Aher, Pushpa Waghmare, Pramila Waghmare and Aruna Waghmare.

MUMBAI: In a major setback for the Shiv Sena (UBT) led by Uddhav Thackeray, Bhushan Desai, son of ex-minister and Sena (UBT) leader Subhash Desai, on Monday joined the CM Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena. Bhushan joined the Sena in the presence of CM Shinde. Ever since 40 MLAs left Thackeray and joined Sena led by CM Shinde in July, Subhash Desai, an Uddhav loyalist who has been associated with the Sena since its early days, has been active in Uddhav's attempt to rebuild the party. Desai is considered close to Uddhav and was state industries minister from 2014 to 2022. Bhushan, who is considered a political lightweight and was not seen as being very active in the Sena's political work, said he was backing CM Shinde as he was taking forward the ideology of Balasaheb Thackeray and Hindutva. In November last year, Mumbai North-West MP and Sena leader Gajanan Kirtikar (79) joined the Shinde-led Sena. But his son Amol, also a Sena functionary and active in the Aaditya Thackeray-led Yuva Sena, decided to stay back in the Sena (UBT). Bhushan Desai said, "Balasaheb Thackeray is my God. CM Shinde is taking forward the thoughts of Hindutva and Balasaheb's dream for Maharashtra. I fully believe in this. We have worked with each other before. I have seen Eknath Shinde working closely. A delegation of Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) on Monday reached Maharashtra Vidhan Sabha and handed over a letter seeking expedited action in the disqualification of 16 MLAs of the Shinde camp following the Supreme Court's recent verdict during their meeting with Maharashtra's deputy Speaker Narhari Zirwal and Assembly secretary Jitendra Bhole. This comes after, a Constitution Bench, headed by Chief Justice of India (CJI) DY Chandrachud in its judgement said the Governor is not entitled to enter the political arena and play a role in intra-party to inter-party disputes, and he cannot act on the basis that some members want to leave the Shiv Sena. The bench of Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud and Justices MR Shah, Justice Krishna Murari, Justice Hima Kohli and PS Narasimha also said that former Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari was "not justified" to call for a floor test based on the request of Eknath Shinde faction since he did not have enough objective material before him to conclude that the then Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray had lost the confidence of the House.
