IPL 2023: Shivam Dube continues love affair with RCB, scores brilliant fifty in Bengaluru

By India Today Sports Desk: Chennai Super Kings batter Shivam Dube continued his love affair with Royal Challengers Bangalore by scoring a quick-fire half-century at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. Dube scored a 25-ball fifty in CSK’s first innings in Bengaluru. Last season, Dube remained unbeaten on 95 runs off 46 balls at the DY Patil Stadium against RCB to guide his side to a crucial 23-run victory. CSK got off to a slow start with Mohammed Siraj removing the in-form Ruturaj Gaikwad in the fourth over. But fellow opener Devon Conway and Ajinkya Rahane took the attack to RCB and stitched a 74-run stand to turn the tide of the game. Rahane scored a blistering 20-ball 37, hitting two fours and five sixes, before being dismissed by Wanindu Hasaranga in the 10th over. IPL 2023: Shivam Dubey's fifty goes in vain as Rajasthan Royals beat Chennai Super Kings by 32 runs

The Rajasthan Royals triumphed over the Chennai Super Kings in a thrilling match at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium, securing their second win of the IPL 2023 season against the four-time champions. Despite facing a formidable batting unit and a sea of yellow from the opposition's fans, Rajasthan posted the first 200-plus total in the history of the IPL at the iconic Jaipur venue. They then defended their total with relative ease, thanks to excellent spells from spin-bowling masters R Ashwin and Adam Zampa, as well as a disciplined effort from Yorker expert Sandeep Sharma. Earlier in the day, Yashasvi Jaiswal put on a show of big-hitting against the Chennai Super Kings new-ball bowlers, notching up his career-best score in T20s. While his more established batting partner, Jos Buttler, struggled to find the big ones at a consistent rate, young Jaiswal played around with the field with his brilliant strokeplay. Jaiswal took on the responsibility of scoring big runs in the powerplay, propelling Rajasthan Royals to 62 for 0 at the end of 6 overs. His face-off against former U19 teammate Akash Singh was a delight to watch, as he played around with the field and picked up the lengths from the left-arm pacer quite early. Ajinkya Rahane was dismissed for a mere 15 runs off 13 balls, leaving the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in a precarious position. The team was left hoping for a miraculous partnership between Ravindra Jadeja and Shivam Dube to turn the game around. Dube kept the CSK fans ...

CSK vs KKR: Freedom at Chennai has unleashed Shivam Dube in IPL 2023, says Sunil Gavaskar

By India Today Sports Desk: Former India captain Sunil Gavaskar heaped praise on Shivam Dube, saying the 29-year-old has got the freedom to play his natural game at Chennai Super Kings and, more importantly, has grabbed the opportunity. Shivam Dube took his IPL 2023 tally to 363 runs in 12 matches, the most he has scored in a season in his IPL career. The left-hander has an average of 40 and a strike rate of 157 in what has been a consistent season so far. "That's what I have been saying about MS Dhoni's captaincy. Shivam Dube has played for other franchises, but he hadn't really got the freedom or encouragement to play his natural game," Gavaskar told Star Sports. On Sunday, in CSK's defeat to Kolkata Knight Riders at home, Dube was the sole positive as the left-hander remained unbeaten on 48 in their total of 144. On a pich where most Chennai batters struggled, Dube hit 3 sixes, flaunting his form. Regardless of the situation, Dube has been given the license to go after the spinners in the middle overs and it has worked wonders for CSK. "Here, he has got a fixed number to bat -- pretty much No. 4 or No. 5. And he has capitalised on it. He has got enough overs to get in and play the big shots. He has not been moved up and down the order. When that happens, you go out and play in a completely natural way. He feels he belongs here," Gavaskar added. CSK lost to KKR by 6 wickets on Sunday and missed out on an opportunity to become the first team to make the IPL 2023 playoffs....
