Shri Omkareshwar Jyotirlinga: All You Need to Know BEFORE You Go

Whom am I to review such a holy place. Writing here to give a word of caution. We tried booking online VIP ticket but was not available. We went to the shrine and you are then approached by certain people who promise VIP darshan. We took one such gentleman who promised for VIP darshan for 1100/-. Tickets 300 per person So we were 2, 600 for ticket and rest was his service fees that you can negotiate. He helped us in darshan. However, I felt one could just directly go to VIP ticket counter and proceed to the line. The counter is near the shoe stand. Temple is old and beautiful. 1. Need to cross a bridge by walk and then pass through the bazars to reach. No proper written signs or directions are available. Need to ask locals. My car was parked and from there I walked about 20 mins to go near the temple. Old people can opt for carriages. 2. Lots of Purohit will approach you to give you vip darshan. No need for that. I went on a Friday ( amavashya) and finished the darshan in less than 30 mins. 3. The constructed walking path was dirty, dusty needs serious cleanup. 4. There is no queue Management. Men women children in the same line, which is very very inconvenient. 5. I missed the place to keep my shoes inside temple. No direction and arrows. If you buy flowers, shops will let you keep the shoes. 6. Mobiles and small bags are allowed. But no photo/videos inside the temple. Though I did not see any security stopping anyone. 7. Temple is smaller and shiva is behind a glass encl...
