Karnataka Congress Chief DK Shivakumar on Thursday confirmed that he has agreed to take deputy chief minister post “in larger interest of the party”. “We have a commitment for Karnataka. Parliament elections are there. So in larger interest for the party I have agreed for the formula,” said Shivakumar. “More responsibility is on me now to serve Karnataka. We have to deliver,” added DKS. Siddaramaiah to be the next chief minister of Karnataka and DK Shivakumar will take oath as deputy chief minister. Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge arrived at a consensus for Karnataka government formation. The oath ceremony will be held in Bengaluru on May 20. Kiren Rijiju was on Thursday removed as Law Minister. In the government's cabinet shuffle, Rijiju was replaced by Arjun Ram Meghwal, who was assigned the independent charge as Minister of State in the Ministry of Law and Justice, in addition to his existing portfolios. Kiren Rijiju will now handle the portfolio of the Ministry of Earth Sciences. Union Minister Jitendra Singh was holding charge of the Ministry of Earth Sciences. President Droupadi Murmu, as advised by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has reallocated portfolios among ministers in the Union Council of Ministers, a statement issued by the Rashtrapati Bhavan said. "The portfolio of (the) Ministry of Earth Sciences be assigned to Shri Kiren Rijiju," it said.

Apr 19, 2023, 08:25PM IST Source: ANI Two persons were reported dead and 5 persons were rescued from the goods trains’ collision site on April 19 near Singhpur railway station in Madhya Pradesh. The engines of the trains caught fire after the collision. All the trains on the Bilaspur-Katni route were affected. “We reached the spot when we received the information from the SWAT team. 2 trains have already collided with each other. 6 persons were rescued and sent to the hospital for further treatment,” a doctor from the rescue team said. “A train DOB Birsinghpur was waiting and it was hit by NPSB goods trains from the back. 1 died on the spot and 1 person died at a hospital, 5 persons are being treated,” Manoj Behera from Railway Labour Union, Bilaspur Zone said. “The down and midline are affected due to the accident. Helpline no 1702 has been issued. 10 trains have been cancelled. 3 trains have been terminated for the short term. 2 trains have been diverted and 1 train is rescheduled,” CPRO, South East Central Railway, Saket Ranjan said.
