The restaurant has, in Mustafa Ezz al-Arab, a dedicated and enthusiastic manager/owner. He was pleased to explain to Sammar Shaeshaa, of Egyptian TV, and myself how a food exhibition in Cairo motivated four Egyptian engineers in the Egyptian oil industry, with a passion for cooking, to establish this restaurant. Skyfall restaurant is located in an area in Digla, Maadi, that is known for having many restaurants. But Skyfall stands out because it is both a café and restaurant. Their menu is European. The four engineers attracted Mohammed Fawzy, a chef who previously served in the Intercontinental Hotel. His presence shows in the quality and freshness of the food. The atmosphere is pleasant, giving both groups and individuals the feeling that this is a welcoming place. The concept, Ezz al-Arab says, is to serve everybody, which means attracting both Egyptians and non-Egyptians, old and young. They don’t serve alcohol because they want to continue attracting both Egyptians and non-Egyptians. “We want to serve anyone who comes, either for only a coffee or watching TV with some finger food.” The restaurant is open from 8am to midnight. The day starts with serving breakfast, followed by lunch and at night, dinner – with any request for food or drinks fulfilled in between. Ezz al-Arab is ambitious and committed to his restaurant.
