Northern California had mainly mountain showers and thunderstorms Tuesday, but a few showers sneaked over the valley. Wednesday will be quieter and warmer with more afternoon clouds. The weather was warmer in northern California on Tuesday despite showers and thunderstorms breaking out again. Wednesday will deliver more clouds by afternoon, but temperatures will keep rising, too. The active weather pattern we've had much of June continued Tuesday, but most of the active weather was and will be confined to the higher elevations. There will be a slight chance of valley showers and thunderstorms, but they will be gone by midnight. Lows will range from the 40s in the mountains to the 60s in the valley. Wednesday will begin fairly clear with more afternoon clouds and only isolated mountain showers and thunderstorms. Highs will range from the 70s in the mountains to the lower 90s in the valley. A ridge of high pressure will begin building over the West Coast on Thursday, and the warming trend will accelerate even more. We'll only have a few clouds in the sky both Thursday and Friday, but we'll also have a moderate downslope breeze through the valley which will help warm our air even faster. Both days will be above average with most highs from 95-100 degrees. Thankfully, we don't have a long-term heat wave ahead.
