Swami Vivekananda Chicago Speech Here’s the full text of Swami Vivekananda’s Chicago speech in which he introduced Hinduism to the world: Sisters and Brothers of America It fills my heart with joy unspeakable to rise in response to the warm and cordial welcome which you have given us. l thank you in the name of the most ancient order of monks in the world; I thank you in the name of the mother of religions; and I thank you in the name of the millions and millions of Hindu people of all classes and sects. My thanks, also, to some of the speakers on this platform who, referring to the delegates from the Orient, have told you that these men from far-off nations may well claim the honor of bearing to different lands the idea of toleration. I am proud to belong to a religion which has taught the world both tolerance and universal acceptance. We believe not only in universal toleration, but we accept all religions as true. I am proud to belong to a nation which has sheltered the persecuted and the refugees of all religions and all nations of the earth. I am proud to tell you that we have gathered in o...

I am not convinced that this is his voice. I will point out one thing. The currently available published version of his speech on 11 Sep. 1893 does not have one line which was found in the original published version of the official bodies of Parliament of Religions as well as the book published by Sri G. Natesan Iyer from Madras during the lifetime of Swami Vivekananda. Since it is well known that Vivekananda spoke extempore there is no question of this line having found its way into the official books if Vivekananda had not spoken it. This audio does not have that line. So to me this is conclusive proof that this audio does not have the voice of Vivekananda. The missing line is : 'I am proud to tell you that I belong to a religion into whose sacred language, the Sanscrit, the word seclusion is untranslatable'. See : I have investigated the subject about a decade ago. All my findings are from Ram Krishna Math and its associates. The Album was published by Ramkrishna Mission on the Centenary year of Swami Vivekananda. Ramakrishna Mission did not mention in the inl...
