Paint the Squares

Paint the Squares Number Charts is an interactive way to explore number patterns such as odd and even numbers, counting in multiples from times tables and ten more and ten less. We have added more paint options such as splats and also extra grids which include negative numbers and decimals. The resource is designed primarily for use on interactive whiteboards. There are various sized grids, all of which are configurable. The largest goes up to 120. Squares can be painted by clicking on the squares and numbers can be hidden either individually or completely. The start number can be varied and the whole grid flipped to present the numbers differently if required. There are puzzles on all the grids and these offer varying degrees of challenge. Square-1 Cube Puzzle - An overview and Beginner's Solution Square-1 TheSquare-1 (previously called as Cube 21 and Back to Square One) is a shape-shifting three-layered The puzzle was invented in 1990 by Karel Hršel and Vojtech Kopský. It's an official Variations: Super Square-1, Square-2, Two Layered and Four Layered versions How to solve the Square-1 The main idea of the solution is the same as the Notation The top and bottom layers of a Square-1 are made of thin triangle edgesand thick kite-shaped cornerpieces. An edge piece is 30 o(1 step), while a thick piece is 60 o (2 steps) wide. In the algorithms we specify how many steps to turn the top and bottom layers between theslice moves. / - a slice is like a 180 o R rotation on the Rubik's Cube (image). (1, 0) / - rotate the top layer 30 o clockwise and slice (0, 3) / - rotate the bottom layer 90 o and slice. Equivalent to the D move on the / (0, -1) / - start with a slice, rotate bottom layer 30 o counterclockwise then slice again (2, -1) / - rotate the top layer 2 steps, the bottom anticlockwise 1 stepand do a slice 1. Bring the puzzle to a square shape The puzzle is much easier to work with when it is in the shape of a cube. Try to bring the Square-1 to a cube shape in the first step. This is not a complicated stage because there are no solved pieces you can mess up. Use this step to familiarize with its operation. Try to group the small pieces together to form a cube with the method below The two examples below describ...
