Sound Recorder is an app you can use to record audio for up to three hours per recording file. You can use it side by side with other apps, which allows you to record sound while you continue working on your PC. (While there is also a desktop program called Sound Recorder, this article is about the Sound Recorder app.) • To start recording, tap or click the circular button with a microphone in the center. This is your Record button. • To pause recording, tap or click Pause. • To resume the same recording you paused, tap or click Pause again. • To save the recording tap or click Stop. You'll see the recording appear in your list of recordings. (The next time you tap or click Record, you'll start a new recording.) • Open Sound Recorder. • Tap or click the recording you want to share. • Swipe in from the right edge of the screen, and then tap Share. Show or hide all participants If you'd like to see a list of everyone in a meeting—or a list of others invited but not currently in the meeting—select People . The meeting participants will show on the right side of your screen. Above the list of participants, you can also invite someone to the meeting or share the meeting invite. Among other things, this meant dealing with sound systems, where I was taught an important rule: don’t tap on the microphone. It’s a common cliche, but rarely a good idea. Tapping creates a sudden, loud noise in the microphone, which can cause damage to the microphone and/or the speaker that plays it back. I was reminded of this tonight when reading the Please don’t tap the microphone, as the amplified sudden noise can cause pain to D/deaf (In the same vein, you should always use a microphone if one is provided, even if you think you don’t need it. It makes a big difference for anybody with a hearing aid, and for the quality of sound on the recording.) If you speak at or run events, their guidelines haves lots of good advice. As well as how not to abuse your sound equipment, there are suggestions for things like handling your tech and A/V (multiple layers of backup, arrive well in advance); referring to audience members in a gender-neutral way; and providing appropriate content warnings on your talks.
