HYDERABAD: Andhra Pradesh CM YS Jagan Mohan Reddy is the richest CM in the country with Rs 510 crore assets while West Bengal's Mamata Banerjee is the only CM who is not a crorepati, Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR), a Delhi-based watch group which works in political and electoral reforms, said in its latest report. Telangana CM K Chandrasekhar Rao tops the list with the highest number of criminal cases and financial liabilities against his name, the report said. ADR filed its report after analysing the poll affidavits of CMs of 28 states and two Union territories. Out of the 30 CMs analysed, 29 (97%) are crorepatis with the average assets for each CM working out to Rs 34 crore. ADR said Arunachal Pradesh's Pema Khandu trails Jagan with Rs 163 crore assets, followed by Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik, who has Rs 63 crore assets. KCR has Rs 23 crore worth assets, it said. Banerjee with Rs 15 lakh assets has the lowest wealth among all the CMs in the country, followed by Kerala's Pinarayi Vijayan and Haryana's Manohar Lal Khattar who have Rs 1 crore assets each, the group said. In the last year's report of ADR, Jagan's assets stood at 373 crore, including the assets he inherited as well as those acquired, thereby topping the charts of richest CMs in the country in 2022 as well. KCR had 13.72 crore assets last year. Bihar's ADR said KCR has 64 criminal cases, including 37 serious offences, making him the CM with the highest number of cases booked against him. Addressing several leaders from Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh, who joined the pink party here on Sunday, Rao said that some parties pursued politics by chanting the names of founders of their parties, their grandfathers and fathers. “People do not require these names. Naam dari nahi... Kaam dari hona chahiye,” Rao said while indirectly attacking the Congress. The Chief Minister also alleged that the Election Commission failed to stop irregularities, misdeeds and false promises being made by some parties. He declared that the BRS would set up its own office in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh soon. Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao’s son KT Rama Rao will soon be sworn in as the next CM, Deputy Speaker of the state Assembly and senior party leader T Padma Rao Goud said on Friday. In an exclusive conversation with News18, Goud said that the development will take place in a very short time. He said, “KTR has the ability to become Chief Minister and he will become the CM of Telangana in a short while." Goud, however, refused to divulge the date of the swearing-in. It has been speculated that the KTR may take oath on February 18. A senior minister in the Telangana cabinet on Wednesday said, “Yes, the next CM is KTR. It will happen mostly in February.
