(The main characters are pig farmers, if you need me to make it make sense.) At it’s heart, it’s a story about a mother who goes too far in order to give her son a good life, and from what we’ve seen so far, it’s a fascinating story. Opening Shot: A cute little pink pig wanders through a home, then a yard, then a town. The Gist: It’s 1988 in South Korea. Young-soon (Ra Mi-ran) is a young woman working in an animal feed store, and one day one of the store’s customers, Hae-sik (Cho Jin-woong), comes in and proposes to her. The proposal is not without its glitches though. Hae-sik is a pig farmer, and he had strapped the engagement ring to the neck of a piglet, who runs away as he’s proposing. Young-soon and Hae-sik chase the pig through town, finally snatching it, and she accepts his proposal. A short time later, they’re living on their pig farm and Young-soon is pregnant. The Good Bad Mother spoilers follow. Like the titular parent in question, The Good Bad Mother is an intriguing combination of various elements that shouldn't make sense together, but they do, and they do so spectacularly ( It's the story of a son seeking revenge for the murder of his father, three decades earlier, but it's also the story of a mother and son trying to reconcile after a devastating accident. There's courtroom drama and also melodrama aplenty, not to mention some surprisingly strong action sequences along with bouts of absurd humour that threaten to derail the show entirely. All of this comes into play for the final episode where Jin Young-soon and Choi Kang-ho's story comes to a devastating yet hopeful conclusion. Another seeming contradiction then, and one we won't forget in a hurry. The Good Bad Mother ending explained Netflix The Good Bad Mother finale begins with Kang-ho giving Tae-soo "a chance" to testify against Woo-byeok, the man who arranged the death of Kang-ho's father thirty years prior. If Tae-soo refuses, then the presidential candidate's daughter will testify in his place, which could ruin Tae-soo as well as Woo-byeok. Meanwhile, Ji-suk records a conversation with his former employer, Woo-byeok, to help Kang-ho nail him in court.
