THE LEDGE (2022) Reviews of mountain climbing thriller

‘Don’t lose your grip’ The Ledge is a 2022 thriller about a female climber trapped on the face of a mountain who has to fight off four killers… who are standing on an overhanging ledge twenty feet above her. The movie has been described as a “female-centric take on 1993’s Cliffhanger.” Directed by The Lockdown Hauntings; Never Let Go; The Dead 2: India; The Dead) from a screenplay written by Tom Boyle. The Evolution Pictures-Red Pictures production stars Brittany Ashworth, Ben Lamb, Nathan Welsh, Louis Boyer, Anaïs Parello and David Wayman. Plot: Italy, the Dolomites: A rock-climbing adventure between two female friends turns into a terrifying nightmare. After Kelly (Brittany Ashworth) captures the murder of her best friend on camera, she becomes the target of a tight-knit group of four vile male friends, with a previously shared crime coverup, who will stop at nothing to destroy the evidence and anyone in their way. Desperate for her safety, Kelly begins a treacherous climb up a mountain cliff and her survival instincts are put to the test when she becomes trapped with the killers just twenty feet away… Review: The Ledge is a reasonably effective if somewhat unsubtle thriller that ticks all the current cinematic boxes about male toxicity with lines such as: “You get that bitch down Taylor!”. On the whole, it’s well-directed by If you can accept the bizarre, illogical assertion that “Climbing is like chess mixed with ballet. It’s all a game. Use your mind, not your muscle....

The Ledge Summary

The fisherman is known as a “hard man,” given to bragging and expressing his contempt for others less ambitious, but his forceful way achieves success in the only world that he recognizes—a world of outdoor activities focusing on hard work and hunting and fishing. His insensitivity has long made his wife yearn for a different kind of life, but on balance she has decided to stick with him despite his “incurably male” intransigence. She is thus not surprised to hear the roar of the outboard motor on the skiff that carries the fisherman and the two adolescents out to their larger boat before daylight on Christmas morning. With the skiff and the outboard secured across the boat’s stern, the three make their way to Brown Cow Island, where they anchor their boat and motor another three hundred yards in their skiff to Devil’s Hump. They plan to arrive at about the same time the tide has receded enough so they can land and begin shooting around half-tide. The fisherman has it figured exactly: They will have about four hours before the ledge is completely submerged by high tide again. After finishing their “gunning” in late afternoon, they will go home with a skiff full of sea ducks—many more than their legal limit, a fact that does not ruffle the fisherman’s ethical sense in the slightest. With the three is the fisherman’s black retriever, too old to swim in the icy water but happy at being in on the fun. The fisherman’s mood blackens when he discovers that he has left his pipe to...

Review of New Climbing Movie "The Ledge"

Heading out the door? Read this article on the new Outside+ app available now on iOS devices for members! The Ledge Director: Howard J. Ford Paramount Home Entertainment “He’s not going to let her off this mountain alive,” says actor Nathan Welsh in Paramount’s new movie, The Ledge . The Ledge centers around a fictitious version of Monte Antelao—the highest mountain in the Dolomites, in northeastern Italy. The plot follows the classic into-the-woods horror genre: two girls get to know a group of guys over a campfire. One of the guys turns out to be a murderer. Sophie (played by Anaïs Parello), is brutally killed after being chased through the woods. Kelly, who had gone to bed, awakens to shouts. She scrambles out of bed, searches the area, and arrives at the scene just in time to see the gore. For the men, there’s one major hiccup: Kelly caught the whole thing on camera. A pursuit ensues, out of the woods and up the face of Monte Antelao. Check out the exclusive clip below! Kelly, played by Brittany Ashworth, must out-climb the men to the summit. Yep, she’s soloing! But the men, who have gear, take an adjacent, easier route. After beating her to the main ledge, Kelly becomes trapped 20 feet below them—unable to continue or downclimb. Luckily for her, there’s also an abandoned portaledge right there for her disposal, alongside a ledge just big enough to crouch on. (O.K., so why is there a portaledge right below a massive real ledge? Great question, but j...
