Delhi High Court asks jail authorities Tillu Tajpuriya murder case: Taking cognizance of the gangster Tillu Tajpuriya's "brutal murder", the Delhi High Court on Monday questioned the jail authorities over the recovery of four knives from Tihar premises. As the entire incident was captured on CCTV cameras, the court asked why no preventive or remedial action was taken by authorities when the inmates belonging to the rival gang attacked Tajpuriya. Tajpuriya’s father and brother earlier filed a petition seeking an investigation by the CBI into the “brutal murder” inside Tihar Jail premises on May 2. On the filed petition, Justice Jasmeet Singh issued notice to the Director General of Prisons (Delhi), the Delhi government and the Commissioner of Police. Tillu Tajpuriya murder: 6 accused inmates taken for forensic examination

All six inmates of Tihar Jail arrested in connection with the killing of jailed gangster Tillu Tajpuriya were on Friday taken to the Forensic Science Laboratory in Rohini as part of the investigation, police said. The accused -- Deepak, Yogesh, Rajesh Bawania, Riyaz, Chavanni and Ataul Rehman -- were taken for photography as well as video recording for comparing the same with CCTV footage of the jail. The CCTV had captured the accused while committing the murder and disposing of weapons, they said. A senior police officer said Deepak, Yogesh, Bawania and Riyaz were subjected to detailed medical examination by doctors of the forensic department for injuries sustained during the course of the commission of Tajpuriya's murder in Jail No 8. Their blood samples and nail clipping were preserved and their statements recorded, he said. "An exhaust fan has also been seized as the frame holding iron arms of the said fan were used by the accused to make four improvised pointed knife-type weapons, which were used to kill Tajpuriya. A notice for preservation of CCTV footages was also given to the jail authorities," the officer noted. On Wednesday, the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) team was taken to the Tihar Jail for extracting relevant CCTV footages of 26 cameras installed at ward No 5, Jail No 8 of Tihar Prison, police officials said. Tillu murder aftermath: 99 jail officials transferred in major reshuffle

In a major reshuffle days after gangster Tillu Tajpuriya’s murder inside a high-risk ward of Tihar jail, at least 99 prison officials, including 11 Deputy Superintendents (DSs) and 12 Assistant Superintendents (ASs), were transferred on Thursday. Rakesh Singhal, Superintendent I, Police Headquarters, said the transfers and new postings will be implemented with immediate effect. Apart from DSs and ASs, 13 head warders, two head matrons, several warders and other officials were among the transferred. A senior prisons official said that the move, approved by Director-General (Prisons) Sanjay Beniwal, has a “direct co-relation” with Tillu’s murder on May 2. “Highly competent and performing officials have now been posted in high-risk wards,” he said. The DG and other senior officials have taken the Tillu murder case seriously and that a decision on making ground-level changes was taken after much deliberation. Another official said, “We have received a lot of criticism since the incident and we need to accept failure on part of officials who were present there.
