Bengaluru: At the 12th edition of Air show "Aero India-2019" that begins today in Bengaluru, 61 "metal birds" are set to roar the skies over the Yelahanka Air Force station. India’s biennial airshow ‘Aero India’ - which is said to be Asia's biggest airshow - is going to be held in Bengaluru between February 13 and 17, announced the Defense Ministry’s Department of Defense Production on Sunday. The airshow will be held at the Karnataka capital's Yelahanka Air Force Station. A post on Twitter by the department read, “Asia’s Biggest Air Show #AeroIndia2023 announced. Save the dates, 13th February – 17th February. The biennial airshow will be held at Air Force Station, Yelahanka, Bengaluru, Karnataka (sic)". Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has inaugurated the event today and released the DRDO export compendium, a new Procedure for Design, Development and Production of Military Aircraft and Airborne Stores (DDPMAS) document and other documents.The journey of the air show goes a long back. It started in 1996 and is celebrating its 25th year in this post-coronavirus era. "The Organisation with its vast defence design and development capability has been working towards Atmanirbhar Bharat and has taken up many policy initiatives to work closely with all stakeholders of the ecosystem. More than thirty laboratories of DRDO connected to aeronautical development are exhibiting their products and technological achievements in this mega event," the statement said. "We have taken many steps to strengthen our security apparatus recently. Domestic manufacturing of bigger and complex defence platforms has now become the focus of our policy under the “Atmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyan”. We plan to spend 130 Billion Dollar on military modernisation," said the Defence Minister. "India also faces threats and challenges emanating from multiple fronts. India is a victim of state-sponsored and state inflicted terrorism, which is now a global threat. Our resolve towards this end is shown by our growing defence capabilities. bengaluru: Aero India show: Flight operations at Bengaluru airport to be impacted for 10 days from today

The flight operation at the KempeGowda International Airport, Bengaluru (KIAL) will be affected in the backdrop of Aero India Show 2023 scheduled to be held between February 13 and 17. The authorities have announced that the flight services will be partially suspended for 10 days from Wednesday ahead of the 14th edition of the show. The show will be held at the Yelahanka Air Force Station in Bengaluru and the preparations are in full swing. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will arrive in Bengaluru to inaugurate the spectacular international show of metal birds. “There will be partial air space closure during Aero India 2023 impacting commercial flight schedules between 08 -17 February, 2023,” the official announcement of KIAL stated. The passengers have been asked to look into the official portal to know more about the flight schedules. On February 13, flight operations will be closed between 9 am and 12 pm for the inauguration ceremony and Air Display. On February 14 and 15, the Bengaluru airport would be closed for Air Display between 12 pm to 2.30 pm On February 16 and 17, the flight operations will be suspended from 9 am to 12 pm and from 2 pm to 5 pm for Air Display.
