By Sneha Mordani: India recorded 5,880 new Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours, taking the active caseload to 35,199, according to health ministry data on Monday. The daily positivity rate stands at 6.91 per cent while the weekly positivity rate is at 3.67 per cent. The Indian Medical Association said that the reasons behind the recent Covid surge in our country may be because of the relaxation of Covid-19 appropriate behaviour, low testing rate and the emergence of a new variant of Covid. A total of 44,196,318 people have recovered with the recovery rate rising to 98.74 per cent. Meanwhile, 14 deaths were registered, taking the death toll to 53,09,79. A total of 205 doses of vaccine were administered in the last 24 hours. A total of 220,66,23,527 crore vaccine doses have been administered so far under the Nationwide Vaccination Drive.
