Hi. Very Important thing first before visiting. You need a permission to enter the dam site and need to book the accommodation. When you start from Pathankot, on the way to Dam there is a barrier called Jugial barrier. about 15 kms before the dam site. You need to take permission from there for that you need a valid identity proof. There are only 4 cottages/huts so if you are lucky you can get one. About the dam its a very beautiful area and one must spend at least a day at the tourist huts very serene. 1. Interest. A Dam was of interest to the children as they have read about Dams, Hydro-electric projects etc in a Geography class. 2. Environment. A good setting for a picnic were we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. 3. Outdoor. It was a treat for our family and friends away from the hub-hub of the city. Ranjit sagar dam is 17 km away from Pathankot city center,is built across river Ravi for power generation,irrigation n drinking water supply.a joint venture of Punjab,Jammu n Kashmir n Himachal Pradesh.The surrounding hills n the lake is ideal spot for relaxation n bird watching.Nature lover will enjoy their .Visit here if you are visiting Pathankot,good place.
