Delhi Earthquake Earthquake in Delhi: Delhiites woke up from their deep sleep as strong tremors of 5.6 magnitude jolted the city and its adjoining areas in the early hours of Wednesday. The epicentre of the earthquake was Nepal, the National centre for seismology informed. Residents from different parts of the city had mixed reactions to the tremors that Delhi, Noida, Ghaziabad and other NCR regions experienced. EARTHQUAKE IN DELHI-NCR: WHAT WE KNOW SO FAR • Tremors were felt around 2 AM. • The severe tremors lasted for nearly 10 seconds . • Tremors were reported from Noida and Gurugram as well. • According to the National Center for Seismology, the depth of the earthquake was about 10 km. • The epicenter of the earthquake was Nepal • This was the second earthquake to hit Nepal in around five hours. • An earthquake of magnitude 4.9 was reported in Nepal at 8:52 pm on Tuesday.

Earthquake tremors were felt in Delhi-NCR and other parts of North India on Tuesday afternoon. According to reports, an earthquake of magnitude 5.4 jolted Panchkula in Mohali. Tremors were also felt in Jammu & Kashmir and some parts of Pakistan. Reportedly, the epicentre of the quake has been determined in the Doda region of Jammu & Kashmir. NEW DELHI: Strong tremors were felt in Delhi-NCR and north India region after a 6.3 magnitude earthquake struck the Himalayan region near Pithoragarh in Uttarakhand along the Nepal border. Apart from Delhi, the tremors were felt in Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh as well as in Gurugram and Ghaziabad. The National Centre for Seismology (NCS) said the epicentre of the 6.3 magnitude earthquake, which struck at 1.57 am, was in Nepal, about 90 km east-southeast of Pithoragarh in Uttarakhand. "I was in office when my seat started to shake. An earthquake alarm went off in the office after which we vacated the premises. We went back in after about 10 minutes," ANI quoted an employee in Noida firm as saying. A local from Noida said that she was in the office when earthquake occurred. "Only after it ended did we realise it was a strong earthquake. We then left the building," she said.
