बसस्थानकांवरील वर्तमानपत्रे व पुस्तके यांच्या विक्रेत्यांकडे गुलाबी-पिवळे कागद असतात आणि त्यावर काही आकडे… ते कागद ‘आकडा लावतात त्यासाठी असतात’ त्याला ‘पॅनल चार्ट’ म्हणतात. मटकेबाजाराची ती पुस्तके बेलिलियस रोड, हावडा 711 101 पश्चिम बंगाल या पत्त्यावरून येतात. त्यात पूर्ण वर्षाचे तक्ते उपलब्ध असतात. तो खेळ कसा खेळावा याचीही पुस्तके असत. मी तो बाजार सुरू कसा झाला याची रत्नागिरी परिसरात फिरून माहिती घेतली, पहिल्यांदा कॉटन बाजार असायचा. कापसाचे दर फुटायचे. त्या दरानुसार ‘फिगर/ आकडा’ ओपन व्हायचा. तो बाजार नंतर पत्त्यांवरून सुरू झाला. भारतात मटका स्वातंत्र्यपूर्व काळापासून आहे असे जुनेजाणते लोक सांगतात. मडक्याच्या आत चिठ्या टाकून त्यातून नंबर काढला जात असे. मटक्याचा प्रयोग होई म्हणून मटका असे त्या खेळाचे नाव पडले. मटकाबाजार डे मधुर, नाईट मधुर, डे मिलन, वरळी बाजार, टाईम बाजार, बालाजी किंग डे, तारा मुंबई डे, राजधानी डे अशा नावांनी दिवसरात्र उपलब्ध आहेत. विशेषतः जे खास शब्द कल्याण व मुंबई बाजारांत मिळाले त्यांची माहिती अशी: बावन्न पत्त्यांतील बारा रंगीत पत्ते (राजा, राणी, गुलाम) बाजूला काढले जातात. त्याला ‘भावली बाजूला काढणे’ असे म्हणतात. मटकेबाजारातील पत्ते पुढील विशेष नावाने ओळखले जातात. एक्का – एक्का, दुरी – दुवा, तिरी-तिया, चौका – चॉकलेट, पंजा – काँग्रेस, छक्का – छगन, सत्ता – लंगडा, अठ्याेष – अठ्या त, नव्वा – नयला, दश्शा – मेंढी/जिलबी. त्यांतील तीन पत्ते उघडले जातात. ते कसेही आले तरी ते 1, 2, 3 अशा चढत्या क्रमाने लावून घेतले जातात. उदाहरणार्थ 9, 3, 6 असे पत्ते आले तरी ते 3, 6, 9 असेच लावून घेतले जातात. तो खेळ दोनदा खेळला जातो. त्याला ‘‘ओपन’ व ‘क्लोज’ ची खबर आली’ असे म्हणतात. ‘ओ...

A lot of my friends and family are looking forward to the season of spring and the beginning of summer. This year, we don’t want to make them feel like they’re too stressed out. It’s a great time to get out and explore new ways to help them grow and live longer. Its not so much the prospect of new year’s eve that I’m looking forward to as it is the prospect of a long, warm summer.
