The graduate engineering classes are pretty archaic. They rely on a punitive style of teaching methods that emphasizes work volume over understanding and applicability. The course material itself can be relevant to a degree, but it is obvious the department I am in does not care to keep up with industry standards or best practices in adult learning. It is good enough if you can tolerate it. As a hiring manager, I would not trust most applicants from this university program. If you want to fiddle-dud around as an academic for the rest of your life, any old graduate program will do, including UofC. University of Calgary is freezing cold, but nearly all of their buildings are connected underground or by overhead byways. They have services for near-everything - mental health support, an active student union, and a jam-packed events page. It's the top sports medicine school in Canada, and some consider it the foremost Uni program for contemporary dance.
