The National Rural Employment Act (NREGA), which has been renamed Mahatma Gandhi Rural Employment Act (MGNREGA), was initiated by Raghuvansh Prasad Singh, Minister of Rural Development, and was enacted by the Parliament of India. This act is considered an important measure taken by India's labour law to provide social security to Indian people as the "right to work". MGNREGA was enacted in September 2005, which promises a minimum of 100 days of paid work in a fiscal year. This act covers all members of Indian households who volunteer for unskilled manual labour. If you register for this system, you can find a job within 15 days from the date of registration by law. MGNREGA applies to all the states in India except Jammu and Kashmir. Tribune News Service Faridkot, June 9 In the wake of allegations of large-scale irregularities in MGNREGA funds during 2019-20 in Faridkot, the Vigilance Bureau (VB) has started an investigation. Money drawn in dead people’s name • The VB has started the inquiry on the basis of a complaint by a former sarpanch, alleging the misuse of funds by enlisting the ghost beneficiaries • The complainant alleged that some dead people figured on the muster rolls and wage remuneration was drawn against their names A team of Vigilance sleuths reached Tehna village for the physical verification of many projects, claimed to have been executed under MGNREGA. The VB has started the inquiry on the basis of a complaint by a former sarpanch, alleging the misuse of funds by enlisting the ghost beneficiaries. The complainant alleged that some dead people figured on the muster rolls and wage remuneration was drawn against their names. It is alleged that huge amounts were paid to the physically non-existing firms, registered in the names of two close associates of a former Congress MLA. It is alleged that MGNREGA funds were used on individual’s land, while ignoring the public cause. SECURE soft generates Detailed Project Report (DPR) which includes AS/TS No, AS/TS date, total estimate amount, total material Cost & list of materials used in the estimate with quantity, total semiskilled, Skilled manpower cost, total unskilled wages, activity carried out in each work, No of man days( Unskilled manpower). For creating an estimate every state is being used their own LMR rates, SOR as per their state specific rule adopted for MGNREGS works. Whenever LMR changes, estimates which are not accorded TS will get automatically recalculated with new rate. SECURE is managed by administration module for user creation, office management, and data entry of SoR / LMR, and uploading photographs, news & Government Orders. User ids are created based on the staff details of the GP, Block, District & State. Three women died in a tragic accident in Pataudi village, Gurugram, while four other women sustained injuries. On June 13, Tuesday, a five-foot-high mound of mud crashed on women while they were digging for a pond. According to the police, the injured women were rushed to the hospital and were set to be critically injured and admitted to the ICU ward. The officials also claimed that digging at the bottom caused the mudslide. The sub-divisional magistrate of Pataudi, Sandeep Aggarwal, said that as per the investigation, women started digging at the bottom, which destabilised the mound.
