Indian Foreign Service Syllabus and Exam Pattern The Indian Foreign Service’s exam pattern and syllabus is the same as that of IAS, IRS IFoS etc. What the exam pattern and syllabus is will be described in detail in this artice. IFS Prelims Exam Pattern The IFS Prelims for 2022 took place in June of the same year, the next Prelims exam is scheduled to take place on May 23, 2023. Conducted by the UPSC, the exam pattern and syllabus is also decided by them. The UPSC exam pattern for the Preliminary stage consists of two papers, conducted on one day. Both the papers comprise objective type questions with multiple choice of answers. The prelims examination is a qualifying stage to filter candidates for the mains exam. The marks secured at this stage are not counted towards the final merit list, though candidates have to prepare well for this exam as cut-offs are unpredictable and depend on the average score every year.
