Uttarakhand paper leak case: 40 failed despite paying Rs 15 lakh each

DEHRADUN: In its ongoing probe into the Uttarakhand Subordinate Services Selection Commission (UKSSSC) question paper leak case, the Special Task Force (STF) has found that 260 candidates bought leaked question papers for Rs 15 lakh each. Among them, 220 candidates cleared the recruitment exam held in December last year while 40 others didn't get through despite paying for the leaked papers and being aware of the questions that would be asked in the exam. According to STF authorities, some of the candidates who cleared the exam using the leaked question paper are now coming forward and helping the STF in its probe. "Many of these candidates, especially those hailing from the hilly areas, bought the question paper by taking loans from their friends and relatives or by selling their properties. The ones who cleared the exam are hopeful that they would get some relief from the court. However, the remaining 40 students are not coming forward probably because they lost the money and still couldn't clear the exam," said an STF officer. The officer added, "While digging out details about the 40 students who failed the exam despite buying the leaked question paper, we found that some of them had sold their family's agricultural land to pay for the question paper. Also, many of them were under mental pressure during the exam as they were given the leaked question paper just a night before the exam date. They were made to memorise the answers by the accused. Those who succeeded in d...
