PATIALA: A three-year-old girl died after being hit by Vande Bharat Express train near Kiratpur Sahib in Punjab’s Ropar district on Tuesday morning. The Government Railway Police (GRP) officers reached the spot after receiving the information about the accident. The GRP officers said the deceased girl identified as Khusi (3) followed her father Vikas, a street vendor, who crossed the track. However, Vikas was unaware of his daughter following him. The police claimed that the driver of the train honked thrice but the child could not understand following which a part of the speeding train hit the girl leaving her dead on the spot.

The Vande Bharat Express train running on the Mumbai-Gandhinagar route has been in three accidents in the first month after its launch. All three incidents were caused by cattleon tracks. If found in violation, strict action will be taken against the cattle owners following the due procedure and law. Stringent action will be taken under the law against the violators." It is to be noted that the Vande Bharat train on the Mumbai-Gandhinagar route was damaged on 29 October 2022 in a cattle run-over incident. The incident occurred near the Atul in Mumbai Central while the train was on its journey from Mumbai Central to Gandhinagar. Due to the accident, the train was detained for 15 minutes resulting in a delay in services. After the accident, the nose cone of the train broke. At least 261 people were killed in the country's worst rail accident in over two decades after a passenger train went off the tracks and hit another in the eastern state of Odisha. State monopoly Indian Railways runs the fourth largest train network in the world. It transports 13 million people every day and moved nearly 1.5 billion tonnes of freight in 2022. Long-considered the lifeline of the world's most populous country, the 170-year-old system has seen rapid expansion and modernisation under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's push to boost infrastructure and connectivity in the fast-growing economy. By PTI BALASORE: As the Vande Bharat Express crossed t he site of the triple train crash at Bahanaga Bazar Monday morning successfully, the first train to cross the disaster site during day hours, passengers on board gasped as the horror of the devastation unleashed by the train pile up last Friday unfolded before their eyes. As the train which started from Howrah slowed down as a mark of caution running across freshly repaired tracks, a few muttered "Jagannath, Jagannath", the name of the presiding deity of Puri, the destination of the train, but most were too stunned to speak. The railway authorities had on Sunday informed passengers through a group SMS that the train would leave on time. The train left on time from Howrah station at 6.10 am but no one was sure of the route it would take as news on the state of the tracks which had broken up because of the accident which claimed 275 lives was unknown. Passengers were heard discussing the route it might take, especially as the display board in the compartment showed it was travelling at a speed of over 110 km per hour.
