As per a report by Business Standard, to push the inland waterways, the Indian goverment will be running a longest river cruise from Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh to Dibrugarh in Assam through Bangladesh. According to a report by Live Mint, the union goverment is reportedly hoping to start this new journey next year in January. The Inland Waterways Authority of India has signed an MoU along with Antara Luxury River Cruises and JM Baxi River Cruises for the project. According to reports, the ticket price will be decided by the operators without any intervention of government. The cruise is expected to be follow the model of PPP, which is public-private partnership.
