New Delhi:A traditional festival known as Vat Savitri or Vat Purnima Chavan is observed all throughout India in areas like Maharashtra, Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Punjab, Gujarat, etc. On this day, women fast and pray for the longevity and good health of their husbands. In Northern India, the Jyeshtha Amavasya or dark moon day is when devotees observe their fast, whilst, in Southern India, the Jyeshtha Purnima or full moon day is when they do so.
