Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar Uses Rahul Gandhi's "Rear

New Delhi: Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar on Tuesday took an apparent swipe at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi over his remarks made in the US, saying one should look in the rear-view mirror to notice those out to taint, tarnish and destroy the country's institutions. He also said that by 2047, India will be the number one nation. "...some of us do not take pride...misguided souls confused about the potential and real-time accomplishments of this country," he said, addressing a batch of Indian Defence Estates Service officers at his official residence. Mr Dhankhar also said some people in and outside the country were trying to "calibrate us". "We cannot allow others to calibrate us. Their calibration is not objective.... The rise of India is indigestible in some quarters because this country believes in peace and stability, harmony of the world," he said. The vice president told the officers not to "carry baggage of history. It will impede your progress". He said one has to look in the rear-view mirror and then "you know those who are not well disposed towards the nation, those who are out to taint, tarnish and destroy our institutions -- we come to notice them". "You look in the rear mirror only to avoid someone who is determined to create an accident," he said. Addressing the Indian diaspora in the US at an event, Mr Gandhi charged that the BJP and the RSS are "incapable" of looking at the future and Prime Minister Narendra Modi is trying to drive the Indian car by only lo...

Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar to represent India at coronation of King Charles III

Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar will represent India at the upcoming coronation of King Charles III and Queen Camilla in the United Kingdom. The event, scheduled for May 6, 2023 will mark almost seven decades since the last coronation of Queen Elizabeth II in 1953, when former prime minister Jawaharlal Nehru represented India. The invitation for the coronation, designed by Andrew Jamieson, features the Green Man motif, an ancient figure from British folklore symbolising spring and rebirth to mark the new reign. This is also the first time Camilla will be referred to as a queen. The invitation includes the UK coat of arms, emblematic flowers, and a British wildflower meadow and wildlife. The ceremony will take place at the Abbey Church of Westminster, with 2,000 guests in attendance. However, Camilla will not wear a crown adorned with the Kohinoor diamond during the proceedings due to its controversial history. The diamond was obtained by the British during India's colonial period and is viewed as a symbol of the country's exploitation and looting. Last year, in September, Indian President Droupadi Murmu visited London to pay tribute to Queen Elizabeth II and sign the condolence book on behalf of the Indian government, following her death at the age of 96 in Scotland. British PM Rishi Sunak and his wife Akshata Murty will lead a procession carrying the UK flag at the coronation ceremony of King Charles III. The flag will be carried by a high-ranking RAF cadet, according to ...
