Australia earlier declared their second innings on 270-8 an hour after lunch, with wicketkeeper Alex Carey 66 not out. There is a reserve day scheduled for Monday if time is lost to bad weather, but the forecast for Sunday suggests there will be ample time to determine the second world Test champions, after New Zealand two years ago. If there is no time lost and the game is drawn on the fifth day, Australia and India will share the title. • How day four at The Oval unfolded Can King Kohli deny Australia? WTC Final: Virat Kohli will be determined to hit a century after seeing Steve Smith's 121, says Sunil Gavaskar

By India Today Sports Desk: Legendary India batter Sunil Gavaskar said Steve Smith's success in the first innings of the World Test Championship final would fire up Virat Kohli to get a big score against Australia. Smith continued his love affair with London as he notched up his 31st Test century, helping Australia race toward a healthy first innings total of over 150. "Well, first and foremost, he loves playing against the Australians. He has got a terrific record against the Australians. Now, he has also seen somebody he has always been compared with Steve Smithâ€æ Joe Root, Kane Williamson, these are the top batters in the world. Everybody talks about it. He has not seen Steve Smith get a hundred. He would definitely want to get a hundred to show 'look he has got it, even I can get it'. That will be his aim at the moment," Sunil Gavaskar told Star Sports. Virat Kohli scored a daddy hundred against Australia in the 4th Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Ahmedabad following which he had a productive IPL 2023 season, scoring 635 runs, including 2 hundreds for the Royal Challengers Bangalore. Kohli needs just 21 more runs to complete 2,000 runs against Australia in Test cricket. Meanwhile, Sunil Gavaskar said he is also keen on watching how Shubman Gill will perform in the big-ticket WTC final against Australia when India come out to bat. Gill was in sensational form in the IPL, scoring 890 runs including 3 hundreds. He also hit a hundred in the Ahmedabad Test, continuin...

IND vs SL: Virat Kohli hits 45th ODI century, equals Tendulkar’s record of most hundreds at home

Virat Kohli recorded the first century by an Indian in 2023 on Tuesday against Sri Lanka in the first One-Day International at the Baraspara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati. Kohli reached the mark off just 80 deliveries as he completed his second successive ODI century after a ton against Bangladesh in December 2022 that helped him end a three-year century drought in the format. Kohli was fortunate to have received as many as two lifelines during his innings as Sri Lanka’s fielders dropped straight-forward chances. The 34-year-old was dropped on 52 and 81. Kohli hits third century in four ODIs, breaks Tendulkar’s record of most hundreds at home He made 113 off 87 balls before being caught behind by keeper Kusal Mendis off Rajitha’s delivery as India finished at 373 for seven in 50 overs. Kohli’s 45th ODI ton helped him equal Sachin Tendulkar’s record for most centuries at home in ODI cricket. While Tendulkar had 20 centuries in 160 innings at home, Kohli smashed his 20 ton in his 99th innings at home. Kohli also recorded his ninth ODI century against Sri Lanka. The former India captain equalled his own tally (v West Indies - 9) and Tendulkar’s record (9 centuries v Australia) for the most ODI ton against a single opposition. MOST CENTURIES AT HOME IN ODIs
