Vivo V25 Pro Review

Key Features • Optical image stabilisation This phone has OIS, which uses a little motor to move the camera lens to counter hand movement as you take photos. • MediaTek Dimension 1300 Mediatek’s Dimensity 1300 delivers good gaming performance, power efficiency and gaming power without costing a fortune. • In-screen fingerprint scanner The phone has a finger scanner embedded in the screen, rather than on the side. Introduction The Vivo V25 Pro is a mid-range phone with a more alluring design than most. I’m not just talking about how it looks as such, but how it’s made. For this sort of money, plastic is still the norm. The Vivo V25 Pro has a frosted glass back, and curved glass on its front. These are the real highlights of the phone, alongside a camera that holds up remarkably well in tricky night scenes. From a UK or US perspective, it can be hard to work out where the Vivo V25 Pro sits, because Vivo phones aren’t sold that commonly in these markets. Vivo is huge in some countries, but completely unknown to most people in others. Judging by the Indian price (₹35,999.00, roughly £391/$452), the Realme GT Neo 3T is one of its key rivals. That’s a £369 phone. The Vivo V25 Pro costs less than a Pixel 6a, and more than a Design and Screen • Curved glass front and back • Plastic side walls • In-screen fingerprint scanner The Vivo V25 Pro has something I almost never see in affordable mid-range phones: a curved glass front. When these first arrived with phones like the Not every...

vivo V25 Pro review: Design, build quality, controls and connectivity

Design The V25 Pro is unquestionably a very elegant phone. Vivo has a certain dignified refinement to many of its phones as of late that is very much present here too. The curved lines on the back and front flow nicely into the thin middle frame. All of the surfaces are nice and uniform, and both look and feel premium. And there is just something about vivo's camera island designs that brings a sense of order and symmetry. So, even though the V25 is geared towards a younger creative crown, it would feel right at home on a boardroom meeting table, too, especially in the Pure Black color. If you want extra visual flair, then the Sailing Blue color variant is definitely the better choice. Like the previous V23 generation, vivo uses a proprietary color-changing paint job on the back of its V25 phones. The material or, rather, color layer in question is UV-reactive. When exposed to UV, the light blue on the V25 Pro starts to darken. As vivo puts it - "from a clear sky to the deep sea". The color change itself can take anywhere from under a minute to a few minutes, both going to and from the UV blue state, depending on how much UV light is present. You can often end up with a mid-way change in some environments, like on a cloudy day and never get all the way to the proper "deep blue" color. Naturally, you can play around with the process quite a bit simply by covering parts of the back panel as it changes. Unless you are in a controlled environment, though, don't bet on any temp...

vivo V25 and V25 Pro: First 24 Hours

For the uninitiated, smartphone manufacturer vivo makes the V-series, apart from the more premium X-series. The V-series is its midrange line that inherits a lot of the flagship features its more expensive brothers offer. It’s also got fun selfie camera features, as well as a more colorful, dynamic design. The V25 and V25 Pro are the latest in the series, and we partnered with vivo to talk about our experience using both phones for the first 24 hours. We took them around New York City to test out new camera tricks during the day and at night, as well as to give you an idea what it might be like using the V25 Pro in the real world. Lunch and Errands We started the day by unplugging the V25 Pro at 10am at 100%. Errands had to be run around the city, which took almost 4 hours. We then headed to Urbanspace meet some friends for lunch. It’s a food hall with lots of yummy options to choose from, and I opted for a caramelized pork banh mi. While waiting for my order, I took some video samples using the V25 Pro’s rear camera. For a lot of smartphones photographing and filming at Urbanspace is not as easy. It’s moody with random light sources here and there but the V25 Pro’s 64MP OIS Ultra-Sensing Camera took the challenge like a champ. After lunch we walked over to Grand Central Terminal to take the subway to a Mediatek event. We were running late but we had to take a few photos using the V25 and V25 Pro because this station is stunning. Even if it was quite dim inside the station...

Vivo V25 Pro review: This budget phone looks expensive

Vivo has made great strides in mobile photography thanks to its partnership with Zeiss for its flagship models, most recently the Vivo X80 series. While its budget line doesn't seem to benefit from that same partnership, the Vivo V25 Pro 5G — its latest budget model alongside the vanilla version — is a solid mid-ranger that exhibits many of the attributes you'd expect from the brand. Just when you thought the mid-range segment had run out of a great challenger, Vivo manages to stand out from the competition in many ways. The V25 Pro, in particular, has a stylish design like its standard sibling, which is a pleasure to carry around. In addition, Vivo phones often come with some unique camera features not commonly found elsewhere, and the V25 Pro is no different. While the phone has a few other highlights, such as a super-smooth AMOLED display, there are a few tell-tale drawbacks that hold it back from being an all-around mid-ranger. (Image credit: Jay Bonggolto / Android Central) The Vivo V25 Pro is available to purchase in India and Southeast Asian countries. It starts at INR 35,999 (approximately $442) for the 8GB/128GB configuration. You can opt for the higher memory variant of 12GB/256GB, which sets you back INR 39,999 (around $491). (Image credit: Jay Bonggolto / Android Central) Vivo tweaked the design of the V25 Pro slightly, making it appear less dated than the V23 Pro. It retains the curved back panel of its predecessor, with a flat glass rear panel that changes co...
