Jaipur: A 51-year-old man was killed and seven of his family and relatives were critically injured when their SUV crashed into an unidentified vehicle on Jaipur-Agra national highway under the Bassi police station area in the early hours of Sunday. Bassi police station‘s assistant sub-inspector (ASI) Harikesh Singh said that the victim was identified as Mahesh Singh, a resident of Vaishali Nagar. “He was returning home with his family members from Vrindavan in Mathura,” he said. Police said that the accident occurred after 2.30am when the SUV in which Singh was travelling with some of his family and relatives hit the rear of an unidentified vehicle forcing the SUV to veer off the road and lose control. “Mahesh Singh died in the accident. Other seven passengers were transported to the trauma ward of the SMS Hospital where they are undergoing treatment,” said Harikesh. He said that the passengers were residents of Jaipur and returning after spending some time in Vrindavan in Mathura. The mishap immediately sparked a commotion on the highway even as people rushed to the cries of the victims struck inside the vehicle. The ambulance reached the scene and took the injured to the hospital. The accident disrupted traffic on the busy Jaipur-Agra highway.
