The Match 2022: Justin Thomas, Jordan Spieth rout Tiger Woods and top

A par from Thomas on the fourth allowed him and Spieth to increase their lead. After that, the rest of the event seemed relatively easy for the leading pair. "I think Rory described it right when he said that it was the ham and the egg white, not quite the egg," Spieth said. "It was awesome. What a cool experience. I was super anxious to get going and just not knowing what it would be like. Obviously have my partner alongside makes it a lot easier to get comfortable out there and made some birdies." Mickelson, Barkley win Capital One’s The Match: Champions for Change

The Curry / Manning team gets off to a fine start after Curry splits the fairway. Mickelson then busts out his driver and lets the group know, “I wouldn’t normally hit driver here but I just want to set the tone,” and cuts the corner of the dogleg left opener, but finds the rough. Barkley then takes iron and hits a perfect draw into the fairway, but it’s well back meaning they decide to use Mickelson’s shot. A change in strategy for the Mickelson / Barkley team is instituted immediately as Barkley defies all odds and finds his second straight fairway off the tee. Mickelson’s drive is significantly longer, but they choose Barkley’s ball, allowing Phil to try to reach the green in two. The 50-year-old comes up just short to the front of the green. Barkley has clearly been in some sort of golf boot camp like back in the day when he was part of the Hank Haney Project on Golf Channel. His swing is holding up fairly well under pressure and he once again finds the middle of the fairway off the tee. This allows Mickelson to go full flex with his calves and try to hit a bomb up near the green. The lone hole with a different format is where things end up as the sun goes close to ducking behind the awesome Arizona mountains. After modified alternate shot had been used exclusively to this point, this par five is to be played as a scramble hole. This essentially means Mickelson is taking on Manning and Curry.

USA vs England final score, result, highlights: USMNT earns impressive World Cup point with scoreless draw

The United States put forth a mightily impressive performance against world No. 5-ranked team England, but couldn't manage a goal as the two teams played to a 0-0 draw in World Cup Group B. It was a high-quality display from Gregg Berhalter's side, led by the midfield as Weston McKennie and Yunus Musah bossed the match. Christian Pulisic was pulling the strings up front, and rattled the crossbar with a laser-guided shot in the first half, but couldn't find a winner. England coach Gareth Southgate will have questions to ask about his midfield moving forward into their finale against Wales, and there will be discussions about personnel in the attack as well. Harry Kane had a chance to win the match at the death but put his header wide. The United States now has a clear objective in their final match of the group — win, and you're in. For England, they need just a point against Wales to move into the knockout stage. The Sporting News was tracking live updates and highlights for USA vs. England at the 2022 World Cup. The Match 2021 results: Aaron Rodgers & Bryson DeChambeau ride strong back nine to victory over Tom Brady & Phil Mickelson

Phil Mickelson and Tom Brady remain winless as a golf pairing after they were defeated at the hands of Bryson DeChambeau and Aaron Rodgers in The Match 2021 on Tuesday. The Match 4 was a back-and-forth affair early on, and was even tied after nine holes. But DeChambeau and Rodgers pulled away on the back nine, winning three consecutive holes to give themselves a lead they wouldn’t relinquish. They guaranteed victory on Hole 16 after going up by three. DeChambeau played well enough, but Rodgers was particularly good during this contest: He drove the ball well — so well, in fact, the pairing chose to use Rodgers’ tee shot on six of seven holes. His short game was strong as well, as he made a handful of impressive mid-range putts during the event. In fact, Rodgers was responsible for five birdie putts during The Match, while Brady made four. The quarterbacks played well during the event, but Brady and Mickelson just couldn’t drive as consistently as Rodgers and DeChambeau on the back nine.
